week zero: mingle

Week Zero
32 in Competition

On Monday morning, the sun rises on the sleepy village, and when the first ray of light touches the gates at each corner of the village, the previously tightly sealed doors open.

The barriers around the village fall, and leave it entirely open. Each cardinal direction will have a path exiting the village, taking the curious explorers who follow it on an adventure to new territories to be explored. They’ll find that each location that they arrive in appears to be associated with one of the elements. As the Signs had explained the day before, each of the participants in the game possesses an elemental assignment, whether they are aware of it or not.

When they approach the elemental areas, they’ll find themselves more in tune with their new powerset, as if the location invites them to take them out for a spin. The new areas appear to be perfect for training and learning how to use the new skills, or maybe if you’re curious you can discover which of those listed powers you’ve been granted.

Just try not to hurt yourself while you’re out there.

In addition, it seems now that more pieces of the core are being revealed, the river that runs through the village will begin to be dotted with small lanterns floating on the water. Some of them seem to be holding small notes. Try as you might to grab one, they’ll always just barely float out of reach.

Perhaps try sending one yourself and see what results you might get?

Occasionally in the village, you might hear the sound of drums and flutes - is that festival music? - though no matter how you search, you can’t find the source… yet.

Ah, what an excellent choice.

[Going to MAKE HERSELF COMFORTABLE on a stool or whatever is available to sit on. No escape, Ookurikara. No escape]

Where did you learn to cook?

[ She's interested in something like that? Hm. ]

...My former master believed that someone with no knowledge of cooking is the owner of a poor heart.

[ It was Mitsutada who helped refine his skills, but thanks to Masamune, he's always known enough to get by on his own. ]

[Blinking... at the mention of a master...

how interesting]

That's the first time I've heard anyone put it like that...

But so long as you enjoy it, that's the most important part, I think.

[ and this is where he'll turn away, so she can't see the small, fond smile that brings to his face. ]

Yeah, I do. He did, too.

[ and so does mitsutada and wow suddenly kara misses him a lot ]

I'm sure your master would be proud of your work.

I love tasting your food.

[It's a rare day when Nana isn't the one making meals for everyone.]

... Does this mean you're a chef, if your master was teaching you to cook?
unfriendliest: (thinking too much)

[ pausing for just a moment, he wonders if masamune would be proud. probably more of mitsutada than ookurikara himself - his culinary skills are good, but they'll never compare to the tachi. still, he would be pleased with ookurikara trying to ensure no one starves, if nothing else. it's a nice thought.

he won't acknowledge the compliment, though. ookurikara never knew how to deal with those. ]

My partner's better at it. I just help out when he needs it.

[ there are over 50 swords in the citadel though so that's. quite often. ]
