week zero: mingle

Week Zero
32 in Competition

On Monday morning, the sun rises on the sleepy village, and when the first ray of light touches the gates at each corner of the village, the previously tightly sealed doors open.

The barriers around the village fall, and leave it entirely open. Each cardinal direction will have a path exiting the village, taking the curious explorers who follow it on an adventure to new territories to be explored. They’ll find that each location that they arrive in appears to be associated with one of the elements. As the Signs had explained the day before, each of the participants in the game possesses an elemental assignment, whether they are aware of it or not.

When they approach the elemental areas, they’ll find themselves more in tune with their new powerset, as if the location invites them to take them out for a spin. The new areas appear to be perfect for training and learning how to use the new skills, or maybe if you’re curious you can discover which of those listed powers you’ve been granted.

Just try not to hurt yourself while you’re out there.

In addition, it seems now that more pieces of the core are being revealed, the river that runs through the village will begin to be dotted with small lanterns floating on the water. Some of them seem to be holding small notes. Try as you might to grab one, they’ll always just barely float out of reach.

Perhaps try sending one yourself and see what results you might get?

Occasionally in the village, you might hear the sound of drums and flutes - is that festival music? - though no matter how you search, you can’t find the source… yet.

Food should be nutritious, first and foremost, but...

[ There's another slightly judgmental look at all the food. ]

It's very bleak.
leaberator: (anyways you said roxas started...?)

[personal profile] leaberator 2019-06-06 02:47 am (UTC)(link)
I'm not sure a lot of this hits nutritious, either.

[ the nicest thing to say about most of these is that the food is, in fact, physically present. ]
forefall: (turning here and there)

If it's like this, will we all waste away before we can fix the universe...?

[ Is she joking? It's a little hard to tell. ]
leaberator: (dad look it's the good kush)

[personal profile] leaberator 2019-06-06 03:41 am (UTC)(link)
I think it'll take a while longer for malnutrition to get us than it'll take to fix the universe.

[ which is quite a bold statement to make. ]
forefall: (and your eyes alluring as a portrait's)

[personal profile] forefall 2019-06-06 03:59 am (UTC)(link)
[ It's very bold, and it gets Four to look at him with some surprise. ]

Truly? Is that what you think? You think we can fix it and get out of here in a week or two? Or less?
leaberator: (my god they were roommates)

[personal profile] leaberator 2019-06-06 04:09 am (UTC)(link)
Could be! [ but. ] But everyone's still eating, just not well. That takes a lot longer to start affecting people.
forefall: (a funereal urn awaiting a few tears)

[personal profile] forefall 2019-06-06 04:17 am (UTC)(link)
[ She deflates a little, as if she doesn't try to think logically most of the time (she only likes to think she does). ]

... I suppose you're right. Perhaps we'll be here for months.
leaberator: (... what the hell is rent)

[personal profile] leaberator 2019-06-06 12:18 pm (UTC)(link)
[ he scratches the back of his neck when she deflates, like he hadn't expected her to because he's an idiot ]

Nah, I doubt we'll be there that long. They think the situation's dire, right? That means it has to be fixed sooner rather than later.
forefall: (but is it not enough)

[personal profile] forefall 2019-06-07 05:56 am (UTC)(link)
... I don't know. If a situation is sooner and easily fixed, is it really that dire?

[ Unfortunately, her moment for optimism has now passed. ]
leaberator: (wtf is that allowed. is this allowed??)

[personal profile] leaberator 2019-06-08 02:52 am (UTC)(link)
You'd be surprised what a couple of determined kids can pull off.
forefall: (o heavens!)

[personal profile] forefall 2019-06-08 03:18 am (UTC)(link)
I don't disagree, but... it sounds like you're speaking from experience.
leaberator: (then i flew myself right into the sun)

[personal profile] leaberator 2019-06-08 03:24 am (UTC)(link)
Well... kinda. To be honest, it's kind of a long story, but this isn't exactly my first time seeing stakes this high.
forefall: (in the gaslight which colors it)

[personal profile] forefall 2019-06-08 03:48 am (UTC)(link)
If that's true, then we're fortunate you're here.
leaberator: (... what the hell is rent)

[personal profile] leaberator 2019-06-08 04:56 am (UTC)(link)
[ that.

embarrasses him, ngl ]

I wouldn't go that far, but... sure?
forefall: (turning here and there)

[personal profile] forefall 2019-06-08 05:20 am (UTC)(link)
It means you'll keep your head when things get really dire, doesn't it? Isn't that something we'll all need?
