On Monday morning, the sun rises on the sleepy village, and when the first ray of light touches the gates at each corner of the village, the previously tightly sealed doors open.

The barriers around the village fall, and leave it entirely open. Each cardinal direction will have a path exiting the village, taking the curious explorers who follow it on an adventure to new territories to be explored. They’ll find that each location that they arrive in appears to be associated with one of the elements. As the Signs had explained the day before, each of the participants in the game possesses an elemental assignment, whether they are aware of it or not.

When they approach the elemental areas, they’ll find themselves more in tune with their new powerset, as if the location invites them to take them out for a spin. The new areas appear to be perfect for training and learning how to use the new skills, or maybe if you’re curious you can discover which of those listed powers you’ve been granted.

Just try not to hurt yourself while you’re out there.

In addition, it seems now that more pieces of the core are being revealed, the river that runs through the village will begin to be dotted with small lanterns floating on the water. Some of them seem to be holding small notes. Try as you might to grab one, they’ll always just barely float out of reach.

Perhaps try sending one yourself and see what results you might get?

Occasionally in the village, you might hear the sound of drums and flutes - is that festival music? - though no matter how you search, you can’t find the source… yet.

[ well he has no answer to that first part except "that's probably a bit rude", but he refrains since he still doesn't know... anything? about cinnabar's circumstances. ]

Yeah, I had a long stretch of time with no day off for a while, too. But I think it's good to pause and celebrate even the little victories sometimes, y'know?

[ a beat ]

Or in this case, goofing off for the sake of goofing off.

[ somehow by being polite to cinnabar axel has ended up with the least cinnabar lore because they haven't told him to go away on pain of death......... ]

I'm not in the mood to play around. Frankly, none of you should be, either. We still don't know where we are or what we're doing here, outside of that vague stuff those two said the other day. There aren't even any "little victories" to talk about.

[leaberator]

[ i hope he never learns because that's hilarious. ]

Well, I can't disagree with most of that... But it's not like there's anything else everybody can do right now except try an' learn their "new powers", so I dunno that playing around matters that much. I think it's good to try and enjoy yourself while you still can. You never know how things might wind up in the future.

[ that's maybe a bit. too wistful, but. ]

Besides, maybe our "guides" will be in more of a sharing mode if we go along with it. Y'know?

[ ah, that one's a bit more wry. ]

[ they snort at that, eyes narrowing into slits. ]

I'm tired of "powers."

[ they were born with a superpower and guess what it SUCKS!! ]

There's no way for me to "enjoy myself" here, anyway. I don't eat like you do. And I can't get close enough to anyone to do... that weird thing everyone's doing.

[ dancing is what they mean. ]

Not that I want to, anyway.

[leaberator]

[ ... huh? ]

Yeah, dancing's not for everybody, and I wouldn't really recommend eating half the stuff that's on there... [ it's bad, jim. ] But whaddaya mean, "can't"?

[globs]

[ cinnabar is blessed because they have an excuse not to taste fish blood pudding

how many times are they going to have to say this?! They feel like it should have been included on their scroll, honestly. Almost like it wasn't included for some reason!! Huh Cinnabar!!! Anyway, their face darkens, but they explain nonetheless. ]

My body is full of poison. Animals die when they come in contact with me.

[leaberator]

[ oh... yikes? he frowns a bit. that explains the powers comment, but then... ]

Alright. That's pretty bad. [ he will??? concede?? helpfully? but: ] Are you sure that's still true right now? Everyone else here lost access to their powers.

[globs]

[ yeah, it is bad. Cinnabar tries not to look crestfallen when he says that, but they still look a little down. ]

It's not a power. It's just part of my body.

[ even now, there are still a few blobs of mercury hovering in the air around them.

Except they're not poisonous anymore! But Cinnabar still doesn't know this! It's not like they're going to test it out. ]
