On Monday morning, the sun rises on the sleepy village, and when the first ray of light touches the gates at each corner of the village, the previously tightly sealed doors open.

The barriers around the village fall, and leave it entirely open. Each cardinal direction will have a path exiting the village, taking the curious explorers who follow it on an adventure to new territories to be explored. They’ll find that each location that they arrive in appears to be associated with one of the elements. As the Signs had explained the day before, each of the participants in the game possesses an elemental assignment, whether they are aware of it or not.

When they approach the elemental areas, they’ll find themselves more in tune with their new powerset, as if the location invites them to take them out for a spin. The new areas appear to be perfect for training and learning how to use the new skills, or maybe if you’re curious you can discover which of those listed powers you’ve been granted.

Just try not to hurt yourself while you’re out there.

In addition, it seems now that more pieces of the core are being revealed, the river that runs through the village will begin to be dotted with small lanterns floating on the water. Some of them seem to be holding small notes. Try as you might to grab one, they’ll always just barely float out of reach.

Perhaps try sending one yourself and see what results you might get?

Occasionally in the village, you might hear the sound of drums and flutes - is that festival music? - though no matter how you search, you can’t find the source… yet.

No, but I was hopeful that perhaps here, in these glades... [she trails off, humphing.]

This realm seems to be aligned with earth. As Gnome is usually the one who spearheads the forming of spiritual vessels, I had hoped to have a stronger connection here.

It would be nice to be able summon again. Just in case.

Yes, it would be. Although this is not the first time I've had my abilities locked away, it is the first time that I've been restricted so thoroughly.

Finding a way to work within these constraints is going to take some time.

[forefall]

Your abilities were locked away before? I thought you said you were the Lord of the Spirits and oversaw a great many things.

[ Not having abilities seems to... be bad for that, but also, did Milla do something bad to get her powers locked away..... ]

I am.

[But the explanation is still delayed. She hums, crossing her arms.]

I suppose the quickest summary would be that I went to take care of a problem, and the problem briefly got the better of me. However, living as a mortal human was an experience I would not trade, as it expanded my horizons far beyond what I had learned, read, and been told.

That does sound like... [ ... ] quite the experience, something truly eye-opening.

What would you say is the most important thing you learned from it?

That all beings—both humans and spirits, regardless of their descent and history, strength or weakness—are worthy of being protected. That there is always another way.

That... That it is better not to work alone.

[As open and bare as ever.]

Oh? It's not easy to admit that... or learn that. I suppose it does take becoming powerless to reach that point sometimes.

[ ... Like the situation they're in right now, more or less. ]

No, it is not. It takes time, and experience.

In the end, I am truly glad I was able to experience such a thing—even moreso now, that I must cope once again.

[but this time, without jude truly at zero.]

What of yourself? Do you have some experience in that regard?

[ She shakes her head. ]

No. Growing up... my powers only grew. This is a first for me. It's... an adjustment.

[ Me, realizing Milla might have meant learning not to work alone two seconds later..... this is still Four's answer, and I'm sticking with it love me niji ]

[She nods, understanding.]

So this is your first time without. It certainly is—although I suppose it depends on what powers you previously held.

I could summon a daemon, among other things. It was a bit more than what we're given here.

[ A lot more. ]

[tothemaxwell]

[Her eyebrows raise, although her expression stays more or less the same.]

A daemon?

Is that a sort of spirit?

[forefall]

[ Four shakes her head. ]

No. [ Well, maybe. ] Perhaps in your world's view, it could be. They're summoned to protect Intoners, but they can be a variety of things. Mine is a fortress.

[tothemaxwell]

[Milla pauses, digesting the information into her own understanding.]

I see. Are you an Intoner, then?

[forefall]

Yes, I am. My sisters and I all are.

[ The only ones, as far as Four knows. ]

Your sisters and yourself can all summon fortresses to guard yourselves during battle?

That sounds very useful.

[ She shakes her head. ]

We can each summon different things. It can be a dragon, or it can be a giant crab.

A giant crab?

[???]

I... suppose that is useful, in some way. It could pinch your opponent, or serve as a delicious meal.

[ She holds up a hand. ]

How big do you think this giant crab is?

[tothemaxwell]

Perhaps... as tall as two of me?

It's bigger than a dragon. It's ugly and disdainful, but it has that one advantage.

[ Sounds like Four really doesn't care for the crab. ]

How big would you say a dragon is, in your own world?

[ why aren't dragons consistently sized across the universe???

How big is one in yours?

[tothemaxwell]

There are several sizes. But all are quite tall.

I would say the average dragon is perhaps... two or three of my own height tall? But there are smaller, as well.
