On Monday morning, the sun rises on the sleepy village, and when the first ray of light touches the gates at each corner of the village, the previously tightly sealed doors open.

The barriers around the village fall, and leave it entirely open. Each cardinal direction will have a path exiting the village, taking the curious explorers who follow it on an adventure to new territories to be explored. They’ll find that each location that they arrive in appears to be associated with one of the elements. As the Signs had explained the day before, each of the participants in the game possesses an elemental assignment, whether they are aware of it or not.

When they approach the elemental areas, they’ll find themselves more in tune with their new powerset, as if the location invites them to take them out for a spin. The new areas appear to be perfect for training and learning how to use the new skills, or maybe if you’re curious you can discover which of those listed powers you’ve been granted.

Just try not to hurt yourself while you’re out there.

In addition, it seems now that more pieces of the core are being revealed, the river that runs through the village will begin to be dotted with small lanterns floating on the water. Some of them seem to be holding small notes. Try as you might to grab one, they’ll always just barely float out of reach.

Perhaps try sending one yourself and see what results you might get?

Occasionally in the village, you might hear the sound of drums and flutes - is that festival music? - though no matter how you search, you can’t find the source… yet.

Perhaps both of us could learn together. [Hopeful!] All you must do is move to the rhythm, correct?

I think that's basically it. I got a liiiiittle bit of practice in earlier, so...

[ so in theory, this shouldn't go... too badly... ]

Sure. Let's dance.

[She approaches with a look of determination, taking Akane's hand--surprisingly gently, actually. What was it again? Hand and... waist, yes?

Slightly in her cups, Milla, wraps an arm around Akane's waist and announces:]

I am ready to move.

[specialdog]

[ Akane is not quite sure how to do this, but kind of. mimics what Milla is doing. hand on... waist... hm... embarrassing... ]

... Go ahead?

[ move then!!! Akane is just standing there waiting for Milla to take the lead. she might have tried to take the lead herself, but with an announcement like that... ]

[There's a full beat of hesitation—before Milla throws all caution to the wind, starts sashaying across the floor, Akane in helpless tow.

Movement is... definitely happening, here.]

Yes!

Dancing!

[specialdog]

[ Akane startles, and takes a moment of helpless stumbling to get her footing with this. But once she has it, she's able to at least keep up with Milla's movements... Even if it doesn't look particularly graceful... That's fine... ]

This is awful!

[ ... but she's laughing, so at least it's awful in a way that amuses her? ]

[Milla laughs at Akane's words, expression blooming into a sort of cheerful helplssness at the situation at hand, despite the fact that she's the cause and the source of the problems.]

It really is!

But I am doing better than I was with Tsurumaru!

[Almost to punctuate her statement, she treads on Akane's foot.]

Slightly better!

[specialdog]

[ Thank god Milla is willing to admit it, but Akane still huffs at being stepped on. ]

Hey, be careful! It's your fault this is awful, you know?

[ half amused, half annoyed? look, her last dancing partner was Nana, so she's got higher expectations now. she's grown accustomed to a certain standard of dancing!!! ]

[tothemaxwell]

Hmm... it truly is my fault, isn't it? Very well, I will do even better.

[Her expression clouds, and it's clear she's taking this actually seriously. The pace slows, and her footwork shifts—save for some near-misses, it actually actively seems to be improving.]

How has your night been so far?

[specialdog]

[ She's taking it so much harder than Akane expected... Normally she might not be so nice but if Milla is being so sincere... ]

... Much better.

[ As for that question... ]

Boring. I don't like festivals like this. But the food is good. Uh, mostly. [ side-eyes some of your contributions, smh. ] And it's better than sitting around all day being bored.

[tothemaxwell]

[She perks, at the mention of the food.] Oh! Yes, I agree. Although I'm not much for these kinds of festivities, I can't complain about the food at all.

It certainly could be worse!

[Somehow or other, they're actually almost dancing. It's not GOOD dancing, but a tired ballroom teacher would probably wave them on without comment.]

[specialdog]

You're not...? I expected you to be into "festivities" like this.

[ Maybe just because Milla seems sociable and enthusiastic? ]

To be honest, I haven't been to many festivals. I'm certainly interested in them, but I've rarely been granted the opportunity.

What about yourself? Why do you not enjoy them?

[specialdog]

[ Akane looks away like she wants to dodge the question. But their dancing is harmless-at-best so she realizes pretty quickly that she'll have to look back and pay attention. So much for that. ]

... There are so many people. And... [ She hesitates, once again, but seems to settle on continuing, albeit quieter. ] They're always romanticizing it like it's something special.

[tothemaxwell]

[If she notices the attempt to avoid it, there's no mention or motion. Instead, she nods at the eventual answer.]

Yes, with the fantastical idea of balls and parties in books, I can see how it could be overwhelming for anyone.
