On Monday morning, the sun rises on the sleepy village, and when the first ray of light touches the gates at each corner of the village, the previously tightly sealed doors open.

The barriers around the village fall, and leave it entirely open. Each cardinal direction will have a path exiting the village, taking the curious explorers who follow it on an adventure to new territories to be explored. They’ll find that each location that they arrive in appears to be associated with one of the elements. As the Signs had explained the day before, each of the participants in the game possesses an elemental assignment, whether they are aware of it or not.

When they approach the elemental areas, they’ll find themselves more in tune with their new powerset, as if the location invites them to take them out for a spin. The new areas appear to be perfect for training and learning how to use the new skills, or maybe if you’re curious you can discover which of those listed powers you’ve been granted.

Just try not to hurt yourself while you’re out there.

In addition, it seems now that more pieces of the core are being revealed, the river that runs through the village will begin to be dotted with small lanterns floating on the water. Some of them seem to be holding small notes. Try as you might to grab one, they’ll always just barely float out of reach.

Perhaps try sending one yourself and see what results you might get?

Occasionally in the village, you might hear the sound of drums and flutes - is that festival music? - though no matter how you search, you can’t find the source… yet.

It's hard to think of you as someone called Despair, you realize. [It'd be like calling Honey-senpai a king of darkness...] They're still your classmates now, aren't they? Have you performed with them since?

Hehe, is that so?

[Looking a mixture of proud and mischievous, god.]

Don't worry, I'm a good actress! I can pull of Despair when the script calls for it.

[daibanana]

[And then her... smile flinches ever so slightly.]

... Not yet. We're going to redo the performance of Starlight. Every class will do the same play three times to show their progress and budding talent, so this would be our second time.

[twinsightful]

I don't doubt that part, at least. [It's still hard to imagine really, but Nana being a good actress also wouldn't shock him. She does attend a specialty school for that sort of thing. It would make sense. But he catches that look and raises an eyebrow just slightly.]

I've never heard of a class that repeats the same performance, but if it's for comparison you kind of have to. So you would be Despair again?

[daibanana]

Not necessarily.

We can try out for new parts, so I could very well be one of the leads ... if I auditioned.

[A small shrug. Her eyes turn to the side for a moment]

I wouldn't mind being Despair a second time, though. I guess since I've performed it once already, it sort of feels like my part.

[twinsightful]

When you say it like that it sounds both admirable and depressing. [Just saying.] But there's something to be said about comfort in a role. How would you improve your performance?

[daibanana]

Oh, that's easy!

By bringing the entire audience to tears.

[She says, so cheerfully...]

That's...one way to do it. [Nana........]

[daibanana]

[Fufufufu

ALL SHALL LOVE HER AND DESPAIR]

But besides that, I just want to make sure the audience feels something when I perform, whether it's awe, despair, or joy.

That is the mark of a good actor, after all.

[twinsightful]

[...who...does she remind him of suddenly...

You and Milord would get along really well. [A solid nod because that sure is some Tamaki energy there. Like actually, thinking about it, wow. Also he should think about calling Tamaki by his actual name but he uses the nickname so often even when speaking with the other hosts he just does it out of habit.]

[daibanana]

[Oh god, Tamaki and Nana in the same room

-- You have a Lord?

[Looking immediately intrigued by this information, even leaning in a bit]

I didn't realize you served someone...

[twinsightful]

[He makes a face.] He wishes! [Even if the idea is dumb, he's laughing.] He's asked us to call him King because he's the president of our club but we don't take him too seriously.

[Still...] Tamaki-senpai is the one who started the host club. He and Kyoya-senpai are the founders and we were invited before we were even in high school.

[daibanana]

[Wowowow what an ego on that guy.]

Oh my, you even got an invite!

You be very popular in that case.

[Were you smooth with the ladies, Kaoru? Is that it?]

[twinsightful]

He was stubborn. [A shrug.] He invited a few of us from affluent families because he knew we would be popular and could contribute...he's funny, that guy. He likes to make people happy and rarely takes no for an answer.

[He's incredibly fond of this dumb king.] But our entire organization is self-funded by sales of merchandise and events. Kyoya-senpai does all of the accounting because Tamaki-senpai doesn't have any sense when it comes to that sort of thing. But our customers have their favorites and they're loyal.

[daibanana]

[Y'know, Nana assumed Kaoru must have been rich given his mother's profession, but hearin the word "affluent" makes her head turn into a tilt]

... He sounds a little like Karen-chan from my school. She's always so cheerful but can be a little difficult to manage when she's being... herself.

[The nicest way she can think to put it]

Does that mean you fulfill different roles in the host club?

[twinsightful]

That sounds just like him. [That would also be a somewhat scary team-up but it's fine! It's fine. There's a nod then.]

You could say that. Tamaki-senpai and Kyoya-senpai are president and vice president because it was their idea. The rest of us have specific "types" that we play, like I said, and that's our role. We stick to it and act for our customers because it's what they want when they come to visit us.

[daibanana]

Oh? What was your "type" then?

[She's betting on the calm and collected type since Kaoru seems so nice to her... clearly she has nailed it and whatever answer she gets isn't going to make her close her eyes]

[Someone save Banana from herself because Kaoru pauses...and smirks.]

[Hm.

[Spoken with a hand half-covering her mouth as she very obviously tries to work out what the fuck that is]

So you act sly and mischievous ... and the girls eat it up?

[HM.]

...something like that, yes. [Let's not tell the nice girl that he pretends to be in love with his twin brother because girls are a little insane that way.] I can't account for anyone's taste, I only perform the role I've been assigned.

[daibanana]

[PFFT.

Her surprise aside, Nana starts to giggle at the very idea. The host club is either insane or entertaining, is what she's gathered. Probably both.

Sounds a looooot like theatre.]

Somehow I suspect you have no shortage of customers.

[As a fellow lady herself, she can safely think this: girls are absolutely crazy.]

What are the other types available? Oh oh!! -- is there a Cool, Collected type? Or maybe a Strong and Silent type?

[GIRL KNOWS HER TROPES.]

[With Tamaki at the helm? It's absolutely both.] Our mailing list is quite large these days.

[And let's not talk about the merchandise. On the other hand, there's a delighted sort of laugh.]

Both! Kyoya-senpai's the cool type and Mori-senpai's the wild type, but his draw is that he's silent and has a lovely item at his disposal at all times. [A beat.] Honey-senpai. He's the loli-shouta type. And of course there's Tamaki-senpai as the prince type and Haruhi's the natural type. Tamaki-senpai has the highest request rate, but we all do fairly well.

[daibanana]

[The Prince Type reminds Nana too much of both Claudine and Maya in different ways and man, that's just awkward in her head.

Sorry Tamaki but you're at the bottom of the banana's list due to a technicality.]

The Wild Type and the Loli-Shouta type together... ah, I bet there's a height difference.

[T R O P E S]

What does a Natural Type mean? Does Haruhi actually act like himsel...f...? -- [A pause, a head tilt. That name sounds feminine...]

Oh wait, you have girl hosts as well?

[twinsightful]

A rather large one, yes. But they're cousins and the Morinozuka has served the Haninozuka family for generations. They're used to it.

[TROPES. But he smiles.] We only have the one, and we employed her to be a host prior to realizing she was a girl. She was actually indebted to us but we struck a deal that she would be able to clear that debt if she earned her wages as a host. Most of our customers had no idea she was a girl until very, very recently.
