It may be difficult to sleep with the light shining so brightly throughout the night, but the participants can rest easy knowing they will not be plagued by unwanted, disturbing dreams. Early the next day, a bell chimes and all will feel compelled to enter the main meeting hall.

The hall looks mostly the same as it always has, the two thrones for Lune and Sol at the head of the room and scrolls hanging from the walls. The metal box sits on a table near the front, along with a glass box perfectly centered before the benches in the room. Now that the trial is in session, Tokidoki, Nana, and Junna's coffins are open, and their bodies will be available for examination.

Lune and Sol are seated in their thrones, patiently waiting for the last participant to settle. Sol remains quiet, looking over to Lune to allow them to speak first.

"Even if it is a rather daunting task ahead of you, I hope that each of you will not lose hope. One step at a time, one step at a time. It is not hopeless."

When they finish, Sol sits up a little taller in their seat to address everyone.

"I'm only going to say this once. I know it's not an ideal situation, but...the votes count, and the universe only gives one warning. Can we try not to repeat last week?" There's a pause. "You have nine hours. Let's start."

Hello, everyone, and welcome to the second trial!

We'll go over a few notes briefly as we will be playing this trial a bit differently than other games.

As noted, there was no investigation period on Friday. However, today participants will have the chance to investigate areas in the game setting as they see fit! This can be done by providing the name of the location you want to visit to the host header comment. To help with the ease of the trial and for IC mechanics, only one location may be visited at a time. In addition, these locations can be manipulated and adjusted upon request to test theories and solve puzzles, so please feel free to ask if you're searching for clues! Your host will also be accompanying you on these visits.

Most importantly, before the trial is over, please place your character's vote over on the voting page. Voting will close at 9pm EST/6pm PST, and will serve as our activity check for the week, so please be sure you get your vote in before it ends unless you have contacted us previously.

Casino Findings

[ Akane and Valvatorez return from the casino! And Akane is now holding a glass in each hand: one empty, one full. Of alcohol? ]

The casino is all messed up. Smashed bottles and glasses all around the bar like someone dropped them. It looks like someone dragged a body to or from the baccarat table that Hisoka-san was playing at the other day, and then there were a bunch more glasses over there that weren't broken and had just liiiittle bits of alcohol left in them.

And this one! [ She lifts the full glass up! ] Valvatorez-san says it's probably poison! He thought maybe we could check it for finger prints, buuut, I'm not sure we have anything for that?

I was thinking, doesn't this seem like the place that Junna could have died? She was poisoned, right?

The full glass we found has the faint smell of bitter almonds. That's indicative of a type of poisoned called cyanide.

...wait, but that glass is full. Did she even drink it?

There were many empty glasses in the casino. It could be that all of those were spiked with poison.

Oh - like a, poison them all, she's gotta drink at least one of 'em kinda thing?

That's a possibility. I didn't know the lass well either enough to say what her stance on drinking was.

That sounds like something I remember hearing from TV. [ probably not the most trustworthy.... source of information but...... ]

Are there television specials about this sort of thing?

Oh, yeah. There's all kinds of shows about solving murders.

It might help if we could watch one of those before the next week's trial.

[ Hold up, she has a Book on that. ]

Cyanide?

[ She flicks the book to the index and looks for the entry for cyanide. ] It says it damages tissues involved in aerobic respiration, the heart and the central nervous system. If she drank it then...

Are those symptoms consistent with how her body looks now?

[stillstands]

I took another look at her body. Her eyes were bloodshot, and there was foam around her mouth. That's definitely a sign of asphyxiation, which would probably fit with some kind of poisoning.

But asphyxiation is pretty... broad in terms of poisonings.

[He closes his eyes and rubs his chin for a moment before he reaches out for the book waiting for her to share it with him.]

I think foaming around the mouth is also consistent with cyanide poisoning.

Lili's been saying Junna would have fought back... if things are all smashed up, that would make sense.

How would you check for poison and fingerprints?

Valvatorez-san said it was the smell.

As for checking fingerprints, I don't have anything for that.

What kind of things would you use?

[specialdog]

Well... There's this chemical called luminol, for example. If we had that, we'd be able to check the fingerprints.

But it would take a looooot of it to compare with everyone here, and I don't have any on hand, so maybe it's not realistic.

Yes, she most likely was. She also seemed to have run into furniture at some point, making it even more plausible she was there.

Maybe she collapsed over the bar counter and knocked over all those bottles.

But then was she dragged back to the baccarat table, or what?

[Now that he has a fine powder and some tape. he'll dust down the empty glass and then... shake it off before pressing a some tape against it.

Well he tried, but the finger prints don't show up.

A little sigh.]

At least there was an attempt.

Good effort. But if this is what we really want to do, we'd need the right stuff.

Lune doesn't know what a finger printing kit is, so I doubt we can use one in the future either.

... I guess that shouldn't be surprising.
