Week Two

As the sun rises on Monday morning, all participants will find themselves awakening with a sense of purpose. Regardless of where they slept the night before, they’ll find themselves compelled to return to the main meeting hall first thing in the morning.

Approaching the hall, however, they will find a large, swirling mass grey in color looming near the sakura tree. This swirl cannot be approached just yet, but seems to be locked and waiting for something more.

As the last member of the village enters the hall, they will find Lune and Sol at the head of the room. Though they’re together, it’s Lune who speaks up first this time.

"Good morning, good morning. You've done well to purge the corruption in the previous gateway - allow us to assist with the finishing touches. For the time being, it would appear as though we've been able to locate another. The land might appear a bit familiar to some however... I only advise you watch your step."

When Lune finishes, Sol chimes in from their place at Lune's side.

"The corruption is still out there, and we're going to do all that we can to find a way to contain it. But until then... stick close to others this week. Do your best to protect yourselves and look after each other. Okay?"

The moment participants leave the hall, they will find that the gateway has changed from grey to white, the opening widening enough for multiple people to step through. The Signs will soon take their leave, and all will remain peaceful once more.

The only oddity is that throughout the week, in a noise that extends past the portal but seems to resound even through the village, there will be the occasional, resounding call of a war horn.

In addition, as the week goes on, partners will find ever-growing feelings of anxiety and nervousness dwelling within them the longer they are separated from one another. They will feel compelled to be very close to their partners at all times, and will be on edge if separated for more than an hour by the end of the week. Welcome to surprise codependence at its finest.

[Another one fell in a trap because of course. Now that she takes a better look, though...]

At least you're not defenseless like others around here, you have that much on your side.

[Lili clearly would get free sooner or later, but may as well speed up the process. Time to climb up the tree]

[grim eyes is a saint and lili looks vaguely pleased at the compliment - even if it barely counts as one. and then she'll just work on trying to climb up the rope instead, like she'll try to meet grim eyes halfway on the branch the rope is tied around

though it's hard to say if, after all of lili's moving around, it's all that sturdy]

[Grim Eyes tests the branch, finding out it's creaking. Lili's movements and Grim Eyes' weight would definitely make it snap. Oh, this isn't going to work...]

Looks like you'll have to get up here by yourself.

[She had intended to haul up the net, but it may not be a good idea due to the branch. At least she extends a hand, ready to catch Lili once she's high enough. The sooner Lili is in safer hands, the better]

[there is a pause at that and lili will nod briefly before moving to climb slowly, even though her hands already look like they're pretty tired from gripping on

creeeak creak creak goes the branch

lili persists anyway!]

Good! [She's doing far better than Grim Eyes expected. It's commendable, really! She'd applaud if she wasn't holding onto a branch with one hand and having the other extended.

Once Lili is close enough she tries to grab her. The branch is splintering somewhat, which is rather alarming. Oh, great]

...just so you know, if we fall and you break something, I know how to deal with broken bones.

[Thanks a lot for your remarkable optimism, Grim Eyes. Already taking for granted things are going to go wrong. Yeah, she's not very optimistic]

[lili starts to say something but realizes that she can't with the knife in her mouth?? oops. it was honestly probably pretty appreciative because now lili knows exactly who to go to if she ever breaks something

but now she's just going to glance briefly at the splintering branch before looking all the more determined

which is about when she reaches a hand out back to grim eyes in hopes of maybe at least relocating to a different branch please god]

[There! Got you! Better look for a different branch all quick-like--oh, there's one not too far. As long as...she's kind of tossed over there. Not ideal, but it's better than nothing. At least it's not breaking apart]

You better spit out that knife right now. I'll swing you to that branch over there and you really shouldn't have that in your mouth.

[Not even waiting for approval for the plan she already is swinging Lili slightly, ready to let go]

[thERE'S A MUFFLED NOISE BEFORE LILI DOES MANAGE TO DO AS DIRECTED and opens her mouth so that the knife will drop out of it and

there she goes!!

swinging to a different branch, automatically reaching out to try to grab on before she's plummeting right back down to the earth]

Ah!

[she's still alarmed though??]

[So there they are. One on a half-broken branch, the other on a hopefully sturdy and slightly lower branch, just...holding onto them like their lives depended on it. Which it most likely doesn't, but really, who wants to risk it]

...now what?

[She didn't think things through about what would be done afterwards. Grim Eyes looks calm, but the way her ears droop signal she's feeling pretty dumb right now]

lili will take a moment to catch her breath and.... pause]

Can you get down?

[if she can climb up, can she climb back down????]

Sure can! It'll just...take me a while.

[She certainly would find her way down one way or another. It just is that it would be much easier if she could get a good grasp on something that's not about to shatter. That kind of ruins any plan she can think right now, and she sure doesn't want to just start getting down without at least a vague idea on how to do it]

It could be a long while.

[ . . . hm.]

I suppose... that's fine. I can't think of a way to get myself down by myself - I'm not that strong of a climber.

[she's sort of waiting for someone reliable to come by so they can just

catch her, to be honest]

Sorry for making you deal with this too....

[lili at least recognizes she's caught someone else up in her mess]

It's not like you forced me to come up here. I got here because I decided to do it. You have nothing to apologize about.

[She appreciates the consideration, although she really doesn't blame Lili for anything]

Maybe if we can set off another trap, it'll give us more rope to work with...

[and then they can climb it down?? she'll look around to try to locate other traps to activate on purpose now]
