week two: mingle
Week Two
26 in Competition
26 in Competition
As the sun rises on Monday morning, all participants will find themselves awakening with a sense of purpose. Regardless of where they slept the night before, they’ll find themselves compelled to return to the main meeting hall first thing in the morning.
Approaching the hall, however, they will find a large, swirling mass grey in color looming near the sakura tree. This swirl cannot be approached just yet, but seems to be locked and waiting for something more.
As the last member of the village enters the hall, they will find Lune and Sol at the head of the room. Though they’re together, it’s Lune who speaks up first this time.
"Good morning, good morning. You've done well to purge the corruption in the previous gateway - allow us to assist with the finishing touches. For the time being, it would appear as though we've been able to locate another. The land might appear a bit familiar to some however... I only advise you watch your step."
When Lune finishes, Sol chimes in from their place at Lune's side.
"The corruption is still out there, and we're going to do all that we can to find a way to contain it. But until then... stick close to others this week. Do your best to protect yourselves and look after each other. Okay?"
The moment participants leave the hall, they will find that the gateway has changed from grey to white, the opening widening enough for multiple people to step through. The Signs will soon take their leave, and all will remain peaceful once more.
The only oddity is that throughout the week, in a noise that extends past the portal but seems to resound even through the village, there will be the occasional, resounding call of a war horn.
In addition, as the week goes on, partners will find ever-growing feelings of anxiety and nervousness dwelling within them the longer they are separated from one another. They will feel compelled to be very close to their partners at all times, and will be on edge if separated for more than an hour by the end of the week. Welcome to surprise codependence at its finest.

Welcome to your week two mingle! As a reminder, murder proposals are open. We will also be hosting a mini-event on Tuesday, so please be on the lookout for that.
In addition, ensure that all of your week one private conversations were reported on the page, and your week two private conversations are reported on that page. If you'll be taking anything from locations, please report that as well.

I
Are you going to be okay?!
[Having a limb torn off you is not good. She has reasons to be concerned, as far as she knows]
no subject
They should ask for help. But they hate asking for help. So they continue looking for a way to climb up this tree. ]
no subject
[She really doesn't think it will be enough because that limb will still be separated from the body, but what does she knows. Maybe Cinnabar works differently than others.
The best bet in a case like this is to just let the limb fall from the trap. Grim Eyes looks around and decides climbing the tree really is the best way to deal with this]
I'm going up.
[She's experienced and has claws. Going up the tree to cut the trap is going to be a cinch]
no subject
Oh... Be careful. It's heavy.
[ they think she's going to fetch it and bring it back to them, not cut the whole thing loose. ]
No worries for the late edit!
[Apparently she missed the very basic fact Cinnabar is, well, a rock. She goes up, crawls on the branch, and at least has the decency to inform Cinnabar:]
I'm about to cut the rope, be ready to catch your leg!
[She feels so weird saying that. But without even waiting for a reply, she bites the rope off. There we go!]
no subject
[ she starts cutting it, but it's going to take them a little time to get over there, considering... they have only one leg. They lurch forward, immediately lose balance, and fall onto their hands and knee, shuffling towards where the leg will drop.
Unsurprisingly, they don't make it in time - but, miraculously, it doesn't break into any more pieces when it hits the ground. Cinnabar sighs, then crawls over to it. ]
no subject
Does this happen often to you? Losing limbs and all that stuff?
[Because you sure don't look very worried, Cinnabar.
Also Grim Eyes is still perched up there, apparently she's staying up for a good while]
no subject
It does. It's just part of life for a low-hardness gem like me. [ a beat. ] Did you cut the rope with your mouth?
[ that was wild ]
no subject
Sure did. I'm not carrying around a knife and I sure won't go all the way back just to get one.
[And while the other option is to simply untie the trap and let it fall, she was in a hurry because, you know, limb hanging from there. She wasn't sure leaving it for long would be okay. Biting the rope off would have been faster]
no subject
[ they're not used to...... teeth. But they suppose it's a good thing she has them. Holding their leg in both hands, they use it like a walking stick to help stand back up - although, obviously, it's not really long enough for them to stand up fully. ]
Tch. This is such a pain. What are all these traps even here for, anyway...?
no subject
[...well, maybe not...she tilts her head]
Or at least they wouldn't expect prey to crumble apart like you did. That's not common.
[TO SAY THE LEAST]
no subject
It wasn't that it couldn't hold me. Getting yanked like that just made me fall apart... I weigh a lot more than an animal, anyway.
no subject
[She looks determined. If given the chance, she really would grab ropes right now and haul Cinnabar up in the air to demonstrate]
no subject
That's creepy. You better not.
no subject
Anyway, you really should stay away from this area. And from the spike traps. I don't know if you'd die if you fell in one of them, but if you're as heavy as you saw you are, then hauling you out of one will be real difficult.
no subject
[ they do not have enough of an explorer's spirit to keep going and look through all of this. ]
It's going to take me all day to get this back on, anyway.
