week two: mingle
Week Two
26 in Competition
26 in Competition
As the sun rises on Monday morning, all participants will find themselves awakening with a sense of purpose. Regardless of where they slept the night before, they’ll find themselves compelled to return to the main meeting hall first thing in the morning.
Approaching the hall, however, they will find a large, swirling mass grey in color looming near the sakura tree. This swirl cannot be approached just yet, but seems to be locked and waiting for something more.
As the last member of the village enters the hall, they will find Lune and Sol at the head of the room. Though they’re together, it’s Lune who speaks up first this time.
"Good morning, good morning. You've done well to purge the corruption in the previous gateway - allow us to assist with the finishing touches. For the time being, it would appear as though we've been able to locate another. The land might appear a bit familiar to some however... I only advise you watch your step."
When Lune finishes, Sol chimes in from their place at Lune's side.
"The corruption is still out there, and we're going to do all that we can to find a way to contain it. But until then... stick close to others this week. Do your best to protect yourselves and look after each other. Okay?"
The moment participants leave the hall, they will find that the gateway has changed from grey to white, the opening widening enough for multiple people to step through. The Signs will soon take their leave, and all will remain peaceful once more.
The only oddity is that throughout the week, in a noise that extends past the portal but seems to resound even through the village, there will be the occasional, resounding call of a war horn.
In addition, as the week goes on, partners will find ever-growing feelings of anxiety and nervousness dwelling within them the longer they are separated from one another. They will feel compelled to be very close to their partners at all times, and will be on edge if separated for more than an hour by the end of the week. Welcome to surprise codependence at its finest.

Welcome to your week two mingle! As a reminder, murder proposals are open. We will also be hosting a mini-event on Tuesday, so please be on the lookout for that.
In addition, ensure that all of your week one private conversations were reported on the page, and your week two private conversations are reported on that page. If you'll be taking anything from locations, please report that as well.

[ hello. Cinnabar needs your help.
Why? They innocently decided to go take a look at the new world through the gateway, like anyone would. Naturally, the idea that there would be traps didn't even cross their mind, because why would it? Ten minutes later, a snare caught around their leg and tried to hoist them up into the air - key word being tried, because between Cinnabar's high weight and low hardness, they're only suspended for about 20 seconds before there's another (familiar) snapping noise and they fall to the ground. Sans one leg.
Now they're standing at the base of the tree the snare trap is connected to, trying to figure out how they're going to get up there safely. There's a sprung rope trap with a shapely but very disembodied leg hanging from it, dripping silvery mercury to the ground once in a while, and Cinnabar's down to one leg and one stump, standing up only by virtue of balancing against said tree. There's no gore to be found: just shiny red crystal, raw and uncovered by the white powder they wear on the outside of their body.
They look more annoyed than anything... ]
ii. wildcard
[ after that, Cinnabar's not going back through the gateway!! They can be found in their house waiting for the glue on their leg to set, or in the garden at night once it's better. ]
I
Are you going to be okay?!
[Having a limb torn off you is not good. She has reasons to be concerned, as far as she knows]
no subject
They should ask for help. But they hate asking for help. So they continue looking for a way to climb up this tree. ]
no subject
[She really doesn't think it will be enough because that limb will still be separated from the body, but what does she knows. Maybe Cinnabar works differently than others.
The best bet in a case like this is to just let the limb fall from the trap. Grim Eyes looks around and decides climbing the tree really is the best way to deal with this]
I'm going up.
[She's experienced and has claws. Going up the tree to cut the trap is going to be a cinch]

He digs into his knitted bag and pulls out a small dagger, looking up at the trap. ]
I think... my aim is pretty okay? Unless you're confident in yours.
no subject
[ Sorry, Minato, Cinnabar has zero confidence in you... They glare at him, then, cautiously, lift their remaining leg to get a foothold on the trunk of the tree. ]
no subject
Are you going to climb the tree? At least, you can take this to use as a piton.
[ He offers the dagger again. ]

Is there a way to reattach your leg?
[He says that, but he's also starting to climb up a tree.]
no subject
[ they, too, instantly feel a little better when he appears, which is weird. They also feel struck by the fact that he instantly starts climbing a tree to get their leg back, which is weirder, but. ]
I just have to glue it back on. It's fine. [ Cinnabar stares at him with a sort of conflicted expression. ] You don't have to get it for me...

Four looks from Cinnabar to their leg.... and back. ]
Please hold on. I can get it in a moment. Does this happen often?
[ If they look more annoyed than distressed. ]
Re: i
Yes. [ bluntly. ] Too often.
[ now the rest of their day is going to be gluing this back on... ]

[The first thing she sees is their very noticeable lack of a leg, and even the realization that they aren't bleeding doesn't quite shake how viscerally alarming that is. She looks between them to their leg a few times, biting down on her lip.]
...Can it be reattached?
no subject
What happened is that for some stupid reason, there's a trap here. I can put it back with some glue...

If I cut it down, will it break?
[ It's very clearly not a regular leg, so. Even if he doesn't know for sure what it is, it's a legitimate question as far as he's concerned. ]
no subject
Obviously, if you just let it hit the ground. This worthless body...
[ back to trying to climb up this tree with one leg! it's not going very well. ]
