week two: mingle

Week Two
26 in Competition

As the sun rises on Monday morning, all participants will find themselves awakening with a sense of purpose. Regardless of where they slept the night before, they’ll find themselves compelled to return to the main meeting hall first thing in the morning.

Approaching the hall, however, they will find a large, swirling mass grey in color looming near the sakura tree. This swirl cannot be approached just yet, but seems to be locked and waiting for something more.

As the last member of the village enters the hall, they will find Lune and Sol at the head of the room. Though they’re together, it’s Lune who speaks up first this time.

"Good morning, good morning. You've done well to purge the corruption in the previous gateway - allow us to assist with the finishing touches. For the time being, it would appear as though we've been able to locate another. The land might appear a bit familiar to some however... I only advise you watch your step."

When Lune finishes, Sol chimes in from their place at Lune's side.

"The corruption is still out there, and we're going to do all that we can to find a way to contain it. But until then... stick close to others this week. Do your best to protect yourselves and look after each other. Okay?"

The moment participants leave the hall, they will find that the gateway has changed from grey to white, the opening widening enough for multiple people to step through. The Signs will soon take their leave, and all will remain peaceful once more.

The only oddity is that throughout the week, in a noise that extends past the portal but seems to resound even through the village, there will be the occasional, resounding call of a war horn.

In addition, as the week goes on, partners will find ever-growing feelings of anxiety and nervousness dwelling within them the longer they are separated from one another. They will feel compelled to be very close to their partners at all times, and will be on edge if separated for more than an hour by the end of the week. Welcome to surprise codependence at its finest.

Welcome to your week two mingle! As a reminder, murder proposals are open. We will also be hosting a mini-event on Tuesday, so please be on the lookout for that.

In addition, ensure that all of your week one private conversations were reported on the page, and your week two private conversations are reported on that page. If you'll be taking anything from locations, please report that as well.

Do bears eat apples?

[ she doesn't know. maybe they should cut the apple before giving it to the bear?

either way, she's still going to slowly back away, dragging minato with her as carefully as possible. ]

[personal profile] compendiem 2019-06-18 10:35 pm (UTC)(link)
[ No, they're going to cyanide poison the bear and avenge Tsuru and maybe then Minato won't be haunted by him anymore. ]

Whatever... keeps those jaws occupied. That isn't us.

[ He looks over his shoulder at the faint dots on the ground, still glowing hot. ]

We're going to make a break for it. Are you ready?
whitewalls: (december is darkest)

[personal profile] whitewalls 2019-06-18 10:42 pm (UTC)(link)
[ she'll nod her head, even though the motion is probably difficult to see even with the light of the makeshift torch. ]

Ready.

[ once again, she probably should have put on something other than sandals but here we are. ]

[personal profile] compendiem 2019-06-18 10:47 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Why is she still wearing sandals, bare feet would probably be better than this.

Instead of wasting time on a countdown, Minato just starts running keeping his hand in Naminé's so hopefully she can keep up .]
whitewalls: (june july august)

[personal profile] whitewalls 2019-06-18 10:50 pm (UTC)(link)
[ she likes these sandals

but thankfully she starts running once minato does, and she holds the hand with the burning branch away from them so that they won't accidentally catch on fire. ]

[personal profile] compendiem 2019-06-18 10:52 pm (UTC)(link)
[ ...that's a valid reason, and also why Minato still wears his cat ears. They're his backup ears. ]

Forward- so we can see.

[ Then he doesn't have to lift his own arm the entire time to dribble lava everywhere. ]
whitewalls: (and summer she sends)

[personal profile] whitewalls 2019-06-19 12:09 am (UTC)(link)
Sorry!

[ she'll point the fire ahead of her, but also directed away from minato so he doesn't get his clothes set on fire on top of potentially being chased by a bear? she's not sure if they are she refuses to look behind them. ]

[personal profile] compendiem 2019-06-19 12:17 am (UTC)(link)
[ Chat says we have to kill and eat the bear, so it's still lumbering behind the; they can probably feel it through the rumbling ground, even if they can't see the mass of wild brown fur, feel hot breath against the back of their necks as they run- it's slow every time they have to turn a corner, and he can't remember how far away the entrance is. Also, what they should do once they get out. ]

Naminé! Are there any plants in here you can use? To trap it, like a net?
whitewalls: (and when i awoke)

[personal profile] whitewalls 2019-06-19 12:27 am (UTC)(link)
I'm not sure! It's a little hard to concentrate!

[ while they're running and there is a bear going after them? it's really why she didn't agree on being good with her powers; if she gets too distracted, naminé really is not that great at it. ]

-- I'm not sure about a net, but... maybe trip it?

[personal profile] compendiem 2019-06-19 12:29 am (UTC)(link)
[ Tripping it would make it angry...... but it'll also slow it down. ]

If you think that's best, give it a shot!

[ Do what you want, Naminé. Also take the blame for whatever happens, Minato isn't very helpful here. ]
whitewalls: (and these tears they just)

[personal profile] whitewalls 2019-06-19 12:33 am (UTC)(link)
[ SHE DOESN'T THINK IT'S BEST SHE'S NOT A COMBAT RPG CHARACTER SHE'S SUPPORT

but naminé looks over her shoulder and... well, tries to concentrate, which is still pretty difficult at the moment. but a couple of weeds start moving, and they try to tangle around the bear's feet. it. kind of works? as in, it does slow it down just a bit, but not really enough for them to get away safely.

it's good practice anyway. ]

[personal profile] compendiem 2019-06-19 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
[ ANY IDEA IS A GOOD IDEA when it's not Minato's.

Either way, it looks like it worked, and Minato helps out by dropping a few more apples out of his bag. Maybe the bear will trip on them. Maybe it'll stop and eat them. Minato doesn't wait and see, just keeps running for the exit. ]
whitewalls: (a sky that refuses to die)

[personal profile] whitewalls 2019-06-19 01:26 am (UTC)(link)
[ they will just nyoom out of there, and she will stop trying to trip the bear because honestly she's probably going to end up tripping as well if she does

but there's a light at the end of the tunnel, a light that is probably not death. ]

The exit!

[ probably ]

[personal profile] compendiem 2019-06-19 03:08 am (UTC)(link)
[ It's the exit!!! The light is sunlight in front of them, so bright that Minato has to squint and try to peer out through his lashes so that he doesn't stumble getting outside, fresh air and a cool breeze, Minato turning to Naminé with a smile on his face and

the smile drops

Because there is light behind them, too. That light is a fire, lava touching the weeds and catching them on fire. The bear is somewhere inside. ]
whitewalls: (just got harder and)

[personal profile] whitewalls 2019-06-19 03:37 pm (UTC)(link)
[ oh

she turns around to see what he's looking at and that's-- not good. naminé looks back at minato, her eyes with horror. ]

We need to put the fire out.

[ neither of them are water ]

[personal profile] compendiem 2019-06-19 03:46 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Do they have to? It's a question Minato has but does not voice. ]

Okay... [ He doesn't move, because neither of them are water. ]

...Dirt puts out fire, I think? As long as we cut off the oxygen supply...

[ All they have to do is block the mouth of the cave, easy, easy. A ready made oven for bear meat. ]
whitewalls: (sunrise oh sunrise)

[personal profile] whitewalls 2019-06-19 03:51 pm (UTC)(link)
[ listen she does not want to burn the forest down. it they find out the bird burned to death because they set a bear cave on fire, she will be very sad ]

Okay! Dirt! Got it.

[ does

dirt count as plants ]

[personal profile] compendiem 2019-06-19 03:57 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Oh no... bears can die but not birds ): ]

Okay.

[ He waits for Naminé to act first. Though. Plants would probably just feed the fire. ]
whitewalls: (and summer she sends)

[personal profile] whitewalls 2019-06-19 06:19 pm (UTC)(link)
[ according to the mods dirt counts

so she is now going to, you know, attempt to put this fire out via a dirt bath ]

[personal profile] compendiem 2019-06-19 06:41 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Oh, so she can do it. Minato watches on proudly as Naminé continues to get better and better with managin her powers, pulling the collar of his shirt up over his nose and mouth so he doesn't breathe in any of the dirt, and wondering how deep into the cave the fire's spread. He won't bring that up.

He steps forward, and kicks some dirt into the cave. Helping. ]
whitewalls: (that wrap around our knees)

[personal profile] whitewalls 2019-06-19 07:04 pm (UTC)(link)
[ he's helping so much

but, from what she can see, most of the fire seems to be out. maybe there is still more further in. it's a mystery, but it's also too smokey to comfortable go in without breathing that in. ]

I wonder if that worked...

[personal profile] compendiem 2019-06-19 07:35 pm (UTC)(link)
I wonder...

[ Minato takes a step back away from the cave. ]

Maybe somebody will see the smoke signals and come to help.

[ Help put out the fire? No. Help escort these two lost kids out of the forest where they don't belong. ]
whitewalls: (all through the night)

[personal profile] whitewalls 2019-06-19 07:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe...

[ ... ]

Let's walk a little bit away from the cave though so we don't smell this...

[personal profile] compendiem 2019-06-19 07:55 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Yeah... let's get away from the evidence and pretend they had nothing to do with it. They're going to start smelling roasting flesh soon too, so... yeah let's go. ]

I wonder if there's even anybody else in this forest or if they've all died.
whitewalls: (who waits up for me)

[personal profile] whitewalls 2019-06-19 10:13 pm (UTC)(link)
... I'm not sure. They could have left and gone somewhere else, especially if it's dangerous.

[ she'll readjust her hold on his hand since they're no longer running for their lives. ]
