week two: mingle
Week Two
26 in Competition
26 in Competition
As the sun rises on Monday morning, all participants will find themselves awakening with a sense of purpose. Regardless of where they slept the night before, they’ll find themselves compelled to return to the main meeting hall first thing in the morning.
Approaching the hall, however, they will find a large, swirling mass grey in color looming near the sakura tree. This swirl cannot be approached just yet, but seems to be locked and waiting for something more.
As the last member of the village enters the hall, they will find Lune and Sol at the head of the room. Though they’re together, it’s Lune who speaks up first this time.
"Good morning, good morning. You've done well to purge the corruption in the previous gateway - allow us to assist with the finishing touches. For the time being, it would appear as though we've been able to locate another. The land might appear a bit familiar to some however... I only advise you watch your step."
When Lune finishes, Sol chimes in from their place at Lune's side.
"The corruption is still out there, and we're going to do all that we can to find a way to contain it. But until then... stick close to others this week. Do your best to protect yourselves and look after each other. Okay?"
The moment participants leave the hall, they will find that the gateway has changed from grey to white, the opening widening enough for multiple people to step through. The Signs will soon take their leave, and all will remain peaceful once more.
The only oddity is that throughout the week, in a noise that extends past the portal but seems to resound even through the village, there will be the occasional, resounding call of a war horn.
In addition, as the week goes on, partners will find ever-growing feelings of anxiety and nervousness dwelling within them the longer they are separated from one another. They will feel compelled to be very close to their partners at all times, and will be on edge if separated for more than an hour by the end of the week. Welcome to surprise codependence at its finest.

Welcome to your week two mingle! As a reminder, murder proposals are open. We will also be hosting a mini-event on Tuesday, so please be on the lookout for that.
In addition, ensure that all of your week one private conversations were reported on the page, and your week two private conversations are reported on that page. If you'll be taking anything from locations, please report that as well.

[ she has no idea what the proper name of a kunai is ]
I probably won't be really great at it, but...
[ she's trying to say that she can stab when it counts but don't expect her to become a shounen protag ]
no subject
Well. That inspires zero confidence.]
And the gun?
no subject
[ let's just
move alone, north ]
no subject
You're responsible for your own safety.
[Narrator Voice: It will not be fine.]
no subject
[ axel is going to murder north ]
no subject
[Axel will 100% murder North.
Either way— Deeper into the building they go! Is it getting dark in here, or is it just the corruption? A mystery.]
no subject
[ it's a little late for that now. they'd probably have to deal with fighting if they head back. ]
no subject
[Because, apparently, technology is nonexistent outside of last week's gateway.]
That would give our position away in a second.
no subject
[ considering how many traps the ninjas have apparently set it up, that also sounds like it'll lead to a bad time? ]
no subject
no subject
... right.
[ she'll just stop talking and keep moving instead ]

listen
in this point in time
no one's van gogh'ing it up.
either way... they keep making their way through the building, until suddenly— there's the distinct sound of someone (or something) stepping on a squeaky floorboard, completely out of synch with either of their gaits.]
no subject
hm. bad.
she shoots north a questioning look that basically translate to "what now?" ]
no subject
north pauses, waiting to see if the noise repeats, but... nothing. she glances back at naminé, one hand on her sword as she presses her index finger to her own lips. hopefully, naminé isn't so sheltered that she doesn't recognize the gesture for what it is? be quiet, gun child.
regardless of whether or not naminé understands, though, north sticks to the wall as she starts to creep forward without further input. time to figure out where the noise came from. maybe.]
no subject
it's a few minutes, but there's another sound, although it sounds even further away this time so it's still difficult to pinpoint. ]
no subject
if they step forward to get a better look at what's down each path, they'll find themselves stepping on... something. a liquid? a whole ass puddle of it, trailing off into the path to the left. naminé might want to watch her step, because it's also super fucking slippery. north's too busy crouching down to collect a sample on her fingertips to stop her if she slips.
a moment later— something rattles down the path right in front of them, the sound faint and relatively far away from their current location.]
no subject
that's not good.
naminé points at both paths, then looks at north. she's asking if they should stick together or split up? she'd prefer the former, but... they really need to see what's going on here, and north obviously knows more about how to handle a situation like this than she does. ]
no subject
Gesturing at the trail in front of them, she mouths the word blood while hoping her companion knows how to read lips. The blood's fresh? That shit's scary? But it might also mean that someone is bleeding out somewhere in this building, and North isn't callous enough to ignore the possibility. Her preference is clear, but she'll at least let Naminé decide what to check out first. The ominous rattling, or the obvious murder trail.]
no subject
she'll point at the blood path, because her mind jumped to the same conclusion: someone might be hurt, so they should check it out. still, she glances as the other path one more time, as if expecting whatever to have made the noise to jump after them.
it doesn't, so it's time to follow the bloody brick road instead. ]
no subject
North will put a hand on Naminé's shoulder before they proceed, gesturing for her to stay behind her. Once they're off, it doesn't take too long for them to come across what seems to be... a bloody lump on the ground with several spikes sticking out of it?
Well, no. That's just a corpse. An ex-person. One of the soldiers, native to the world this gateway belongs to.
Despite being the one to tell Naminé to stay quiet, North's the first one to fuck up and break the silence with—]
—Shit.
[SOFTLY, WITH FEELING...]
no subject
at the very least, seeing mangled bodies at trial does make this a little easier to see? it's still horrific, but at least it ain't baby's first horrible corpse
at north's curse, naminé quickly look to her then back to the ground. she's not sure if they should go any further down this way than this, partly because the mystery was solved and partly because there seems to be
spikes around here
so]
no subject
And the sound from earlier? It sure is coming from somewhere a little closer to them now. Almost like it's... directly behind them? And the closer the rattling gets, the more apparent it becomes that its underlaid by the sound of several footsteps. Hm.
North automatically turns towards the sound, taking a step back and away from it. The floorboard squeaks when she places her foot on it — and something shifts in the walls around them.
Might want to think fast before they turn into swiss cheese.]
no subject
[ yeah, now it's her turn to break the silence. thankfully, she's used to running away? maybe that's not a good thing, at the very least it means she is very quick to move out of the way of the spikes
it also sadly brings her closer to the dead body, but also farther away from whoever is approaching them ]
no subject
They've already fucked up twice, so North has less reservations about speaking up when she notices the sudden distance between them.]
Naminé— [Quietly, trying to keep her volume down. Is that a hint of concern in her tone?] Are you okay?
no subject
Yes. The path goes on a little mo--
[ well, there goes more spikes. there's another sound, which is just her jumping out of the way of them again. it seems like the rest of the way in this direction is very heavily trapped. ]
