Week Three

As the sun rises on Monday morning, all participants will find themselves awakening with a sense of purpose. Regardless of where they slept the night before, they’ll find themselves compelled to return to the main meeting hall first thing in the morning.

Approaching the hall, however, they will find a large, swirling mass grey in color looming near the sakura tree. This swirl cannot be approached just yet, but seems to be locked and waiting for something more.

As the last member of the village enters the hall, they will find Lune and Sol at the head of the room. Though they’re together, it’s Lune who speaks up first this time.

"Good morning, good morning. You've done well to purge the corruption in the previous gateway - allow us to assist with the finishing touches. For the time being, it would appear as though we've been able to locate another. I wonder if you'll find the skyline familiar? Do try to be kind to those you find on the other side."

When Lune finishes, Sol chimes in from their place at Lune's side.

"You guys did great minimizing the damage and working together...so keep it up."

The moment participants leave the hall, they will find that the gateway has changed from grey to white, the opening widening enough for multiple people to step through. The Signs will soon take their leave, and all will remain peaceful once more.

In addition, as the week goes on, partners will begin to experience the emotions of one another. The clarity of these emotions enhances with proximity, and they will be able to feel the emotions of their partner's intermingling with their own.

A good and noble venture, but I'm not entirely sure he got the memo. [He likes Minato a lot but there are live sardines on the table and it's terrifying.] He's been trying since we got here though, so I suppose some credit is due for effort.

So what does the winner get anyway?

He... Did his best...

[ Stares into the distance for a moment........ And then she looks kind of. Startled to realize it, but: ]

Oh. I don't think we ever talked about a prize.

--how could you come up with a contest and not decide on a prize? [Hewwo??] If there isn't a prize it doesn't matter who won or lost.

[specialdog]

That's right. It doesn't matter. It's just a friendly competition between a lovey-dovey couple.

[ :) ]

Lovey-dovey? [Wait.] You and Minato? Really?

[How.]

[specialdog]

[ Oh, she's surprised he didn't already know? Everyone yelled at her so much last trial she just assumed everyone knew about that part too! ]

Yeah, really.

[twinsightful]

[He was probably asleep on the floor lbr.]

I didn't think he was your type.

[specialdog]

Why not? What did you think my type is?

[twinsightful]

I feel like this may be a trick question, Akane. Is it?

[specialdog]

It's not a trick question! I'm just curious.

[twinsightful]

Maybe someone a little more daring, if I had to guess. But Minato's level of self-preservation is almost impressive so I suppose that counts.

[specialdog]

Hmm... Daring's not bad, I guess! But different people are charming for different reasons, you know?

[twinsightful]

Wouldn't it depend on what a person finds charming? Some people may not be considered charming to anyone at all.

[specialdog]

You think so...? You don't think there's someone out there for everyone?

[twinsightful]

The idealist in me wants to say yes. The realist in me says "maybe not." Especially if you consider that, perhaps, the person you like isn't the person who's going to like you.

But that isn't a reason not to try.

[specialdog]

Then realistically, the only way to be certain you'll be loved is to make sure that you're the type of person others would be able to love.

[twinsightful]

Even if that's not the person you actually are?

[specialdog]

I'm not saying it's a good idea! But it's the result, isn't it?

[ she laughs. Just playing devil's advocate! ]

Something like that would be pretty impossible to fake, anyway.

What, you've never met an actor before? [There's one person in particular he's thinking of who's very good at hiding their true nature. Wonder what that means.]

[specialdog]

Sure, but no one could keep it up forever.

[twinsightful]

Probably not. [Hm...] So what makes a person give away their true nature, you think?

[specialdog]

Why do we always end up talking about silly stuff like this?

I don't know. It depends on how badly they wanted to "become the mask" or whatever, doesn't it?

[twinsightful]

[He rolls his eyes.]

Fine, fine. What would you rather talk about instead? I can go back to talking about how the cheesecake can improve.

[specialdog]

I didn't say it was bad. [ It's just funny! ]

No...but perhaps I'm interested anyway. So? [It's a challenge.]
