week three: trial

Week Three: Trial
22 in Competition

It may be difficult to sleep with the light shining so brightly throughout the night, but the participants can rest easy knowing they will not be plagued by unwanted, disturbing dreams. Early the next day, a bell chimes and all will feel compelled to enter the main meeting hall.

The hall looks mostly the same as it always has, the two thrones for Lune and Sol at the head of the room and scrolls hanging from the walls. The metal box sits on a table near the front, along with the glass boxes perfectly centered before the benches in the room. Now that the trial is in session, Swift Wind and Hisoka's coffins are open, and their bodies will be available for examination.

Lune and Sol are seated in their thrones, patiently waiting for the last participant to settle. It's only when everyone has gathered that Sol speaks first.

"We've got a lot of ground to cover today. Don't give up."

They stop, glancing at Lune and gesturing for them to say their piece.

"Face the truth directly, and don't turn away from what you may find."

✩★✩

Hello, everyone, and welcome to the fourth trial!

We'll go over a few notes briefly as we will be playing this trial a bit differently than other games.

As noted, there was no investigation period on Friday. However, today participants will have the chance to investigate areas in the game setting as they see fit! This can be done by providing the name of the location you want to visit to the host header comment. To help with the ease of the trial and for IC mechanics, only one location may be visited at a time. In addition, these locations can be manipulated and adjusted upon request to test theories and solve puzzles, so please feel free to ask if you're searching for clues! Your host will also be accompanying you on these visits.

Most importantly, before the trial is over, please place your character's vote over on the voting page. Voting will close at 9pm EST/6pm PST, and will serve as our activity check for the week, so please be sure you get your vote in before it ends unless you have contacted us previously.

If you have any questions at any time, please let do us know by pinging us on Discord! Dana and Ty will be in the chat and available for all questions. Thank you, and have fun!

[well that's not surprising considering hisoka.

how many pieces are we talking. are we talking corpse puzzle. will this be the second time he's had to play jigsaw with a body.]

[lord. okay

if they have to be roughly rearranged into a clown shape he will? if that's already been done though then thanks universe. either way, he's going to check the edges of the pieces and see if this is like, a rough hackjob, cleaner cuts, or if it looks more like none cuts & he was made into a twizzler pull n' peel here.

i don't know how you'd manage that with so many pieces but just in case, ok.

also how big are the biggest pieces i'm trying to get an idea of just how much there is to look at with any individual Clown Bits.]

[that is part of what he wanted, thank you metatext. he'll go ahead and arrange those pieces then, and just sort of set those feathers aside. is it clear what kind they are, by the way.

once he's arranged: is there anywhere there are more pieces that looks like it was a more... heavily chunked... area of the body? or shall we just go top-down here and start at the head. the face head, thank u.]

[Hey, whomst the fuck.

She'll take a closer look at the additional piece of rope first. Anything odd about it beside being longer? Like... does it look like it snapped off or was cut off at some point? Or is there any indication of what it could have been attached to, taking in the appearance of that section?]

[HUH. So no indication that it was tightly bound to anything for a while, given the current shape of the rope?

Either way, she'll move on to examine Swift Wind himself. Any rope burns around where he's bound, or...?]

Is the horse moist all over or is it just certain patches? What the fuck.]

[ wow, a body cinnabar actually knows how to look at!! They're familiar with breakage, more or less - does it look like he was shattered by a single large impact or broken up into pieces individually later? ]

[ HUH. Cinnabar's really just being thorough, at this point, but just to be sure, they check the back where the vines seem to have been protruding - do the cracks seem to radiate from there? ]
globs: (through the silence of fireflies)

[personal profile] globs 2019-06-29 06:36 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Are the cracks consistent with the kind of damage caused by ice, by any chance?! Cinnabar stays awake through the winter, unlike the other gems, so they've borne witness to this kind of erosion... ]
globs: (i am softly watching you)

... Weird.

[ they check the vines - do they seem to have ruptured from ice, as well? ]
