week four: mingle
Week Four
22 in Competition
22 in Competition
As the sun rises on Monday morning, all participants will find themselves awakening with a sense of purpose. Regardless of where they slept the night before, they’ll find themselves compelled to return to the main meeting hall first thing in the morning.
Approaching the hall, however, they will find a large, swirling mass grey in color looming near the sakura tree. This swirl cannot be approached just yet, but seems to be locked and waiting for something more.
As the last member of the village enters the hall, they will find Lune and Sol at the head of the room. Though they’re together, it’s Sol who speaks up first this time.
"We've been asked to open another gateway for you guys, but...it's funny. It sort of feels like things have calmed down. The corruption's temporarily evened out and the universe is stabilized for now, but that doesn't mean we should stop looking. Take a look and see what you can find on the other side. You might even get to learn something new."
When Sol finishes, they turn to face Lune, allowing for the other to speak for themselves.
"A bit of reprieve of welcome, isn't it? Please take this time to recover, even as you make steps forward to continue your good work. Thank you, thank you."
The moment participants leave the hall, they will find that the gateway has changed from grey to white, the opening widening enough for multiple people to step through. The Signs will soon take their leave, and all will remain peaceful once more.
In addition, as the week goes on, partners will be able to hear each other's thoughts whenever they look at one another! They may not hear every single thought that occurs, but the link will partners to hear thoughts as though their partner is speaking out loud. The more private the thought, the more likely the partner will pick up on it.

Welcome to your week three mingle! As a reminder, this is break week! This means no murders and no trial! Your normal schedule will resume next week. We will still be hosting a laid-back mini-event on Tuesday, however.
In addition, ensure that all of your week three private conversations were reported on the page, and your week four private conversations are reported on that page. If you'll be taking anything from locations, please report that as well.

press f to pay respects to miki
For a brief moment, it's like she can both see the future and know exactly what's going to happen if Kaoru looks at that book for more than two seconds, and also can remember with complete clarity her dragging him for his "black-belt in Ikebana" all at once.
...
And then she's pushing herself up and over the table enough to make a leaning grab for the book in his hand. ]
It's nothing!!
[ Smooth Miki. Way to be completely subtle. ]
f
Must be a big nothing. I don't think I could have ever imagined you throwing a book. [He's opening it, looking at the passage on the page before him…and promptly letting his eyes grow a little wide as he glances at her.]
…then again, I never imagined this would be your taste in literature either. [Oh no. There's the grin.] How risqué.
cries
It isn’t?? [ Help. ] Milla told me to read it— I didn’f know it was that?!
[ why. ]
no subject
And you didn't think to ask? I do wonder why Milla suggested it to you. [A glance up.] Perhaps to assist with romantic troubles of your own?
[Dragging Miki Naoki is one of his favorite things to do, it's terrible. He flips another page.] Actually, what I want to know is why Milla had it in the first place. This is pretty bad.
no subject
How much are you reading?? That’s way further in that I got! [ StOp?! ]
... [ Ugh, why is she so short? ] i know that much — Lune gave it to her.
no subject
I'm reading enough to realize this is highly inappropriate for a girl your age. [Never mind that she's only a few months older than he is, at best.] Are you saying that one of our overseers is really a pervert? That's even more scandalous.
no subject
Yes, thank you for your concern, I’d figured that out already. [ Hence yeeting the book?? ]
That or he thinks this is what romance is. Milla certainly seems to think so.
no subject
Why would anyone think this is remotely romantic? Has Lune never experienced romance at all? Or Milla, for that matter?
[Does he need to set Milla up on a date.]
no subject
...
... Maybe they haven’t? I don’t fully know about Lune, but Milla’s not human, right? Maybe non-humans have different concepts of romance?
[ LET. MILLA. DATE. Responsibly and in no way like fifty shades. ]
no subject
Milla's not human but she's been around enough of us for some time now. It may be our jobs to educate her. Or we could just ask her what her concept of romance is. I'd rather not hear about Lune's.
no subject
Maybe getting a baseline from her would be a good starting point. And then some better books. There’s probably non-fiction ones on the topic, I know Axel was looking at some the other week. But they’d probably need to be looked over as well because there’s some useless books in there too.

It... wasn't a really creepy one, was it? Like. Talking about woman in transactional terms?
There are some classic ones. I remember reading a translation of Pride and Prejudice a while ago? Something like that maybe.

Is there just a whole adult book section hiding in plain sight here and we keep picking books from it? He was trying to research something about the heart, wasn't he? I doubt this--[ she waves the book once, almost dismissively ]-- sort of thing would help with that.

[ Hm. ]
I wonder if they have the original versions, rather than the watered down versions?
no subject
I wonder why he was researching hearts.
no subject
[ NO....!!! ]
... I’m not sure. He was a bit evasive about it? I assumed it was something about relationships then, but he said that wasn’t right. Nor was asking if he was researching it anatomically.
no subject
As for fairytales...I don't know. We could look?
no subject
Sure. Maybe there's some that are actually native to this place as well. Fairytales are just folk tales anyway, when you break it all down.
no subject
You think? I found some from home but I didn't do a very thorough search, to be honest. It'd be helpful if we found anything native to this place.
