week four: mingle
Week Four
22 in Competition
22 in Competition
As the sun rises on Monday morning, all participants will find themselves awakening with a sense of purpose. Regardless of where they slept the night before, they’ll find themselves compelled to return to the main meeting hall first thing in the morning.
Approaching the hall, however, they will find a large, swirling mass grey in color looming near the sakura tree. This swirl cannot be approached just yet, but seems to be locked and waiting for something more.
As the last member of the village enters the hall, they will find Lune and Sol at the head of the room. Though they’re together, it’s Sol who speaks up first this time.
"We've been asked to open another gateway for you guys, but...it's funny. It sort of feels like things have calmed down. The corruption's temporarily evened out and the universe is stabilized for now, but that doesn't mean we should stop looking. Take a look and see what you can find on the other side. You might even get to learn something new."
When Sol finishes, they turn to face Lune, allowing for the other to speak for themselves.
"A bit of reprieve of welcome, isn't it? Please take this time to recover, even as you make steps forward to continue your good work. Thank you, thank you."
The moment participants leave the hall, they will find that the gateway has changed from grey to white, the opening widening enough for multiple people to step through. The Signs will soon take their leave, and all will remain peaceful once more.
In addition, as the week goes on, partners will be able to hear each other's thoughts whenever they look at one another! They may not hear every single thought that occurs, but the link will partners to hear thoughts as though their partner is speaking out loud. The more private the thought, the more likely the partner will pick up on it.

Welcome to your week three mingle! As a reminder, this is break week! This means no murders and no trial! Your normal schedule will resume next week. We will still be hosting a laid-back mini-event on Tuesday, however.
In addition, ensure that all of your week three private conversations were reported on the page, and your week four private conversations are reported on that page. If you'll be taking anything from locations, please report that as well.

mod notes.
Please use this top-level if you would like Ty to create a scenario for your flight including a location, the key's behavior, and what struggles you may encounter along the way! You are also free to make things up if you're familiar with this portal's lore, as the campus, the woods, and the gateway village are all game. We will leave your fear manifestations and how they impact your character up to you.
Finally, in order to earn prizes from this mini-event, please report them here! In order to capture a key, please include a thread that a ) involves your group going to efforts to catch a key and b ) has 15 comments from everyone involved in the thread! These threads can be a max of three people, and like previous mini-events, two additional, larger prizes will be RNGed to random groups that turn in their thread.]

In the deepest, darkest parts, however, they'll find that their key zips along and disappears into a large ensnarement of a thick, vine-like plant. This plant will try to reach for them the closer Val and North get, as it's a constricting type of plant! Its intent is to strangle them and keep them away from the key.
Written on their scroll, should they look, the words will soon appear:
"Devil's Snare, Devil's Snare, it's deadly fun...but hates the sun."
They can succeed by lighting the plant on fire, as it will retreat and allow them to capture the key in one of their jars.

Be careful! Dungbombs will fling themselves out the window and try to bombard the girls, causing foul-smelling clouds of gas to block their vision and making the key harder to spot. Perhaps freezing it in place will help?
Written on their scroll, should they look, the words will soon appear:
"Try Immobulus!"
This spell will work to stop their target if they channel their own magic. They will be able to catch the key in one of their glass jars.

The owl tower stretches pretty high, so their brooms will come in handy! They will have to find a way to calm the birds down and rehouse them in their original perches in order to find the key. They can be wrangled, bribed, or just sent on journeys to get them out of the way.
Written on their scroll, should they look, the words will soon appear:
"They enjoy sweets."
Upon settling the owls, they will find their key hiding in one of the bird's nests. They will be able to catch the key in one of their glass jars to return it.

As they head further into the forest they'll find that the area is dark and damp, trees looming overhead as they fly through. They'll pass a small group of unicorns and the key will take a sharp left. If they aren't careful, they will run into the trees! Strangely, as they're being led onward they'll find themselves in a little clearing.
A loud honk is heard, and two headlights flash as a blue car covered in moss and vines springs forward to try and mow them down. The key is inside the car, fluttering about and dashing between the steering wheel and the trunk. They'll have to figure out how to immobilize the car to get inside.
Written on their scroll, should they look, the words will soon appear:
"Put it in park if you can!"
So, not that helpful. It's brute strength and magic for team rocket! Upon subduing the car and getting it into park, they will be able to catch the key in one of their glass jars to return it.
