Week Five

As the sun rises on Monday morning, all participants will find themselves awakening with a sense of purpose. Regardless of where they slept the night before, they’ll find themselves compelled to return to the main meeting hall first thing in the morning.

Approaching the hall, however, they will find a large, swirling mass grey in color looming near the sakura tree. This swirl cannot be approached just yet, but seems to be locked and waiting for something more.

As the last member of the village enters the hall, they will find Lune and Sol at the head of the room. Though they’re together, it’s Lune who speaks up first this time.

"Good morning, good morning. You've done well to purge the corruption in the previous gateway - allow us to assist with the finishing touches. For the time being, it would appear as though we've been able to locate another. I would not grow complacent, but I also wonder if you all might enjoy the surprise."

When Lune finishes, Sol chimes in from their place at Lune's side.

"Maybe we can have another week like the last. It'd be nice, wouldn't it? Good luck out there."

The moment participants leave the hall, they will find that the gateway has changed from grey to white, the opening widening enough for multiple people to step through. The Signs will soon take their leave, and all will remain peaceful once more.

In addition, as the week goes on, partners will begin to see odd mirages and hear voices calling for them. Even though they might not realize it, these phantoms that will be haunting them will be their partner's most important person, calling for them to come home. Partners will only be able to see each other's illusions if they make physical contact.

Yeah. Minato was on to a good idea, even if I have a feeling he was just bored and wanted to people to talk to someone in Morse. But if it can help us keep things secret, then it'll be worth it.

[ And then she taps his hand. ]

Maybe Minato's actually smarter than we think he is. Wouldn't that be a surprise?

[...he turns his hand to hold hers instead.] But I will. Until then...something fun. I could use the break from practice anyway.

[stillstands]

I think his mind works in a way that makes sense to him, completely. [ Annnnd that's all she can really say.

Ah. ] Right... the rings of fire thing. [ Hmm, hmm. She laces their fingers together and nods. ]

I guess if anything was going to happen, this is probably the place for it to all go wrong in. They must see all sorts of things here.

[twinsightful]

It somewhat makes sense to me, too, and that alone is a terrifying thought.

[With that said, he's holding her hand and pulling her back from the edge of the observation deck so they can head down.] You think disaster's likely to happen?

[stillstands]

Careful, you'll start injuring yourself and finding creepy clowns to hang out with next.

[ Do not injure yourself, boi. ]

I'm just saying we're in a good place if it does. [ She absolutely things that something would end up on fire. ] Ah-- do we ask the sheep if they'll let us down?

[twinsightful]

I would never subject myself to clowns. [So there!] I think we'll have to ask, yeah. Unless you're up for a really, really far fall? But I think I'll pass on that.

[stillstands]

For all the ribbing about falling off the side you did, I don't actually want to plummet to my doom.

Hold on, I'll ask one of them. [ Polite!Miki is going to politely ask a sheepy if they can go back down. It seems to be a yes from the sheep? ]

[twinsightful]

Skydiving could be fun, but not like this. [He'll follow along after that concerning comment, and the sheep is happy to let them back down. The blimp begins to lower and he's taking her hand again.] We can always come back later after the ring tests.

[stillstands]

Yeah, not like this. [ Although she has her doubts about skydiving in general. Back down to earth with them. ]

That'd be nice. The view is really pretty -- and it's quite peaceful up there too.

[twinsightful]

Yeah. We can come back at a time when it's not really busy and people can't bother us. It'd be kind of romantic if you think about it. [Idly. He's not really pushing it as a romantic thing, but it's kind of a sweet idea for someone who wants to light shit on fire.]

[stillstands]

No one firing themselves out of canons or anything. Or lighting things on fire.

[ What a romantic dormant pyromaniac. ]

I’d like that. I wonder if it runs in the evenings too — this place must look nice lit up at night.

[twinsightful]

Taking all the fun out of everything as usual. [Teasing. But at the same time...] I don't see why it wouldn't be. We'll definitely have to come back and look now. I want to see everything.

[stillstands]

I'm just considering possibilities. I'd call that practical, rather than fun ruining. [ Hmmhmmmmm. ]

Yeah! It must look like fireflies from that high up-- although they probably have different colours.

[ But for now, back to down to earth with a bump. ]

It's the same thing! [But as they hit the ground and come to a stop, he's taking her hand and leading her off the blimp back to the streets.] We'll check and take pictures if my phone lives long enough.

[stillstands]

It still has battery life? [ wow. ] If it is a pretty sight, then it might make a nice background picture.

[twinsightful]

Minimal. I only turn it on when I have to, and lately I haven't had to. I wouldn't be opposed to wasting what's left to take nice background shots though.

[stillstands]

You’d think if they were against people having them they’d just confiscate phones or tech on arrival... but I guess I shouldn’t complain. They’ve been useful for taking photos and such for trials.

Sounds like it’s settled then. When it gets dark we’ll come back up here and see the view at night. [ Now then... ] But for now, the main tent was... this way?

Some people arrived with them, but mine came from those weird puzzle boxes weeks ago. I'm not sure it'll do any good though without its charger. It's bound to die soon.

[He turns with his hand still in hers and begins to lead her toward the main tent.] Once we're at ground level it's pretty hard to miss the tent. It's the biggest one.

[stillstands]

[ She's not even going to say what she got in her book, Kaoru would laugh at her. ]

I suppose that's the downside of tech. If society and modern conveniences collapse, so does it. [ She hasn't had a phone for a long time. ]

Makes sense. When you see films and stuff those tents are usually big enough to house lots of people and large animals or contraptions for high-wire tricks.

[Probably but now I want to know wtf.] Let's hope that nothing collapses anytime soon in the rest of the worlds. Though I can't imagine it'd all diminish.

...when exactly was the last time you've ever been to a performance like this?

[stillstands]

[ It’s in the pcs ty......... ] Hopefully not. [ Things can’t collapse much more back home, probably. ] I guess we’ll have to be positive about the outcomes.

... [ hm. ] My home city wasn’t known for circuses, so... never?

[:|] Your home doesn't have to be known for circuses to have ever been one. Even we've seen pictures and performances before. That's what makes them fascinating, they're unusual and exciting.

[stillstands]

[ : ) ]

I’ve seen pictures of them, sure! [ hey.... ] But not live performances or anything... but there really isn’t anything like it. It does looks like something kinda magical when you see pictures.

[twinsightful]

I almost wish this gateway had some performers for that reason. Imagination is one thing, but seeing something in person is different. The performances we've seen are a little more elaborate, but perhaps we can convince someone else to try for us.

[stillstands]

Yeah. It'd be nice to see it all in action, like everything was normal. But I guess the point is that it isn't.

What sort of performances? I can't see many of us being willing to walk a tightrope...
