The transition from unconsciousness to the waking world is practically seamless. Though you're certain this wasn't where you meant to end up, for a few brief moments it's hard to grasp the situation and take in your surroundings.

A soft twilight lights your way, casting a glow over the sprawling village that fans out around you. Just outside of the large meeting hall you'll find yourself awakening among several others who have found themselves in this place. There's a sense of peace that looms over the area, the only sounds being the cheerful chirp of a stray bird or two and the babbling brook that runs through the village itself.

Stand up, dust yourself off and set out. There are plenty of places to explore and should you venture far enough you'll even find several little houses throughout the village. It may take some time, but as you check out each house you'll soon come across something that belongs to you...along with something that doesn't. It seems that this new residence is yours to share. As for the village itself, the other buildings appear open and well-stocked, providing you with a variety of amenities to utilize. The paths leading out of the village, however, are guarded by four ornate wooden gates. No matter how hard you try, they will not let you past. It seems that the time isn't right yet.

Speaking of, the only way to truly track the passage of time is by charting the movements of the sun but that can prove to be quite difficult as well. As the sun dips below the horizon and the night sky fills with stars, the bell at the shrine rings out to signal the end of your first day. No one else has arrived. It's only you and these strangers for now.

It seems as though you'll have plenty of time to get acquainted with your fellow companions. Make yourself comfortable; when the time is right, answers will appear.



Welcome to the soft intro of Subdivided! This is your intro mingle and the current conditions will last through the weekend until Monday, June 3rd at which point the weekly log will go up. Your characters will not know anything about the partner system, how powers work or any plot-relevant information until Monday. However, characters are free to discover their power through trial and error and will have access to their item from home immediately.

Please note that an additional top-level to introduce NPCs and Game Mechanics will go up on Sunday, 4 PM EST.

[ Minato misses all those opportunities for eye contact, finally bringing himself to touch the gate, fingertips barely touching the surface. ]

I wonder if it's an entrance, or an exit... [ He mumbles to himself, under his breath.




but okay, fine. Finally he turns to Namine. ]

she blinks. that was rude, but also she doesn't look like she minds. ]

At the moment, neither, if it's not opening.

[ She should tell him. ]

Does a door have to open to be one or the other?

[whitewalls]

[ she's used to people being rude to her it's fine ]

No... but we won't be able to find out with it closed. [ ... ] Unless we find something to tell us.

Like... [ He looks up and down the gate ] A "push" or "pull" sign? Doors tend to swing outwards, I think...

[ she looks back at the gate. ]

Maybe there's a sign on the other side.

[ Minato knocks his knuckles against the gate; way too hard to kick through, way too high to climb over, no way around it... ]

Wonder if it's flammable...

[whitewalls]

That would probably be a large fire?

[ is that safe ]

It could be dangerous.

[compendiem]

Yeah.

[ implied: so? ]

Just enough to weaken the structure. We can make sure to have plenty of water on hand, too.

[whitewalls]

... we could give it a try.

[ this still sounds like a terrible idea ]

Alright. We need... wood? Rocks. And/or glasses.

[ He knows how to do this. He's watched movies. ]

[whitewalls]

[ ..... ]

We can probably get the first two out in the fields.

[compendiem]

And I'm sure somebody around here wears glasses. But let's check the fields first.

[whitewalls]

It may be difficult to get someone to let us borrow those.

I'm sure we can convince someone.

[ It will be for a good cause, and he's sure one of them (Naminé) would be able to explain why they're in dire need of the glasses.

But he follows after her-- he steps almost in line beside her, but keeps slightly behind, remaining largely in her periphery without disappearing in her blind spot. Apparently, it's follow the leader, and Naminé is Leader. ]

but towards the field they go!

well, specifically the barn, because that seems like the most likely spot to find tools they might need? ]

This isn't a field...

[ Naminé is fired at being leader.

But the barn is also pretty useful for what's inside. ]

Look, it's a tractor. Do you know how to drive?

[whitewalls]

Oh, no, I don't.

[ i honestly do not think she has ever been in a vehicle in her life

anyway ]

Is it difficult?

[compendiem]

Hm... I've played a train simulator game before. Shouldn't be too different from that.

[ The train had gone 2309547283 mph speeding off the rails, but it's fine. He's got this, heading towards the tractor and pulling himself up onto the driver's seat before extending a hand to Naminé. ]

Let's try it out... We might not need the fire, in the end.

[whitewalls]

[ train simulation game? unfortunately, her knowledge of simulations are extremely realistic, so she just nods her head at that. sounds legit. ]

... alright. We can give it a try.

[ she'll take his hand. ]

[compendiem]

[ Awesome. With the mods' blessings, Minato is somehow able to start the tractor and roll it out of the barn... Driving on an empty space without other cars or incoming traffic or pedestrians is easy, at least, so it isn't as difficult as Minato thought it might be. ]

Alright... Do you remember where the gate is? We'll need straight, unhindered path to build up speed.

I believed we came from...

[ give her a moment, but then she'll point. ]

There.

[ this is fine. ]

[ This is fine and they're fine. Unsure as to whether he should advise Naminé to buckle her seatbelt, or maybe leave it unbuckled so they can abort mission at the last moment, Minato settles on saying nothing at all as he points the tractor at the gate and floors it. ]

[ she would not think to buckle a seatbelt on her own? so it's fine

once they pick up speed though, she's going to grab on to the seat so she doesn't fall the fuck over ]
