On Monday morning, the sun rises on the sleepy village, and when the first ray of light touches the gates at each corner of the village, the previously tightly sealed doors open.

The barriers around the village fall, and leave it entirely open. Each cardinal direction will have a path exiting the village, taking the curious explorers who follow it on an adventure to new territories to be explored. They’ll find that each location that they arrive in appears to be associated with one of the elements. As the Signs had explained the day before, each of the participants in the game possesses an elemental assignment, whether they are aware of it or not.

When they approach the elemental areas, they’ll find themselves more in tune with their new powerset, as if the location invites them to take them out for a spin. The new areas appear to be perfect for training and learning how to use the new skills, or maybe if you’re curious you can discover which of those listed powers you’ve been granted.

Just try not to hurt yourself while you’re out there.

In addition, it seems now that more pieces of the core are being revealed, the river that runs through the village will begin to be dotted with small lanterns floating on the water. Some of them seem to be holding small notes. Try as you might to grab one, they’ll always just barely float out of reach.

Perhaps try sending one yourself and see what results you might get?

Occasionally in the village, you might hear the sound of drums and flutes - is that festival music? - though no matter how you search, you can’t find the source… yet.

That's... a really good idea! Because then you'd know if it's the fabric that's like magic or if only the clothes that already exist are! Maybe you try it with clothes people brought too, to see if it's not even the fabric, but that shop! Like if you take someone's clothes into the shop, would they suddenly fit this much taller person once they've been exposed to the location!

[Kaoru was a lot smarter than Toki originally assumed.]

It's not a bad thing to know. If there's magic in that shop the other buildings might have magic cast on them we don't know about either. [Toki has a point and Kaoru's now busy thinking about it.] There's a lot of short people, but I don't know many who'll give up their clothes.

I'm sure they will if you ask nicely and tell them what it's for!

[It's something to wonder about later, when they return from wherever the south path leads.]

Oh, wait! I have an idea!

[He stops walking to remove one of the horrible shoes and holds it out for Kaoru.]

Okay! So, I got this inside the shop, right!? If it's the materials then it should just magically fit you right now, and if it's the shop, maybe it won't?

[This is the worst idea and now Toki's standing around without a shoe. Kaoru's startled enough that he stops walking, staring at the shoe and giving him a look of disbelief.]

It should, but that's your shoe. [That you were wearing. He doesn't want to stick his foot in someone else's shoe?]

It's anybody's shoe because it's magic!

[But he just puts it back on, because apparently they're not doing this right now.]

Okay! South!? Onward~!

That doesn't change the fact that your foot was in it. [Lightly, and yet there's still a hint of snobbery there. But it's fine, he's not arguing and off they go southward! The walk is pretty easy, and as they head that way he starts to notice something...]

...salt? [The air smells like salt. The ocean breeze is blowing up the path and making it easier to identify.]

Lots of people's feet have probably been in these shoes and all of the shoes in that shop if you think about it! We're probably not the first group of people here if there's already those types of amenities around!

[But that's all he'll say on the matter. Once they get a way down the path, he can see the ocean and a castle.]

Do you think the ones in charge live there!?

Then where did those other people go? [That's mainly to himself but at the same time he thinks Toki might have a point? This village was definitely set up to be hospitable, but surely it was before they got here. So who else was here?]

They did say they were close by. And a castle makes sense. [He's already heading that way straight for the bridge.] We can probably let ourselves in.

[Toki doesn't want to think about what happened to the hypothetical people who were here before them.]

I'm sure they won't mind!

[He follows Kaoru towards the castle.]

It's a big castle, though! How many of them do you think there are!?

They kept talking about other people telling them stuff. Maybe there's hundreds of them. [Across the drawbridge they go! And into the castle where...there's...a bunch of water?

Huh.]

...this feels wrong. [How could someone live here?]

[Water inside the castle, and the possibility of hundreds of them. There is clearly only one explanation.]

They're fish!

We're working for a fish kingdom!? [Is that why Lune and Sol have hoods? That must be it.]

It's the only thing that makes sense! There's probably a whole school of them in there, swimming around in their hooded robes!

Then we need to check the water and see where they're hiding! You take that side. [A point to the pools on the right.

This is not even worth it, but also, why not.]

Okay~!

[He's a bit excited to see fish people, even though his last encounter with a mermaid had gone badly. He leaves his newly acquired shoes by the side of the pool and wades in.]

Do you think they're always that big, or they turn into tiny fish when they come back in here!?

If this place is magic, they have to be able to shapeshift. [Along he goes, looking into the pools and whatnot. He's leaving Toki to do the wading thanks.] It makes it easier for them to hide from us.

[This is absolutely just a game to him, this is how he's coping with magic, it seems.]

There's nothing in here and no signs of fish people! Not that I'd know what signs of fish people would be anyway!

[Shapeshifting makes sense to some degree...]

What if they're just invisible!? They could be watching us right now from like two feet away and studying everything we do!

[...] I bet that's how they knew when to come talk to us yesterday. [Yes this is absolutely how that works. Kaoru's going to crouch down to get a better look at a different tide pool.] But even if they're invisible we should be able to bump into them if we keep walking or splash water on them or something!

Won't they see us coming and move out of the way so we don't run into them!? And water's invisible too!

[Kaoru has such bad ideas.]

Not if we sneak up on them somehow and use magic to make ourselves invisible. [That's because rich people have no sense. Although...] Wasn't there a power like that on that scroll?

I don't know. I didn't really read like the whole thing.

[He shrugs.]

Why not? [Toki???]

It was so long! Oh my god! You can't be expected to read all that!

[Reading is hard.]

Then read it one piece at a time! If they exist, that means people are going to start using them and I don't want to find out the wrong way.

[Also reading is not hard, why does he keep meeting people like this.]

But by the time you get to the end, you've forgotten the beginning!

[He'd rather believe these people wouldn't use powers bestowed upon them by unknown entities against others in their same situation.]
