On Monday morning, the sun rises on the sleepy village, and when the first ray of light touches the gates at each corner of the village, the previously tightly sealed doors open.

The barriers around the village fall, and leave it entirely open. Each cardinal direction will have a path exiting the village, taking the curious explorers who follow it on an adventure to new territories to be explored. They’ll find that each location that they arrive in appears to be associated with one of the elements. As the Signs had explained the day before, each of the participants in the game possesses an elemental assignment, whether they are aware of it or not.

When they approach the elemental areas, they’ll find themselves more in tune with their new powerset, as if the location invites them to take them out for a spin. The new areas appear to be perfect for training and learning how to use the new skills, or maybe if you’re curious you can discover which of those listed powers you’ve been granted.

Just try not to hurt yourself while you’re out there.

In addition, it seems now that more pieces of the core are being revealed, the river that runs through the village will begin to be dotted with small lanterns floating on the water. Some of them seem to be holding small notes. Try as you might to grab one, they’ll always just barely float out of reach.

Perhaps try sending one yourself and see what results you might get?

Occasionally in the village, you might hear the sound of drums and flutes - is that festival music? - though no matter how you search, you can’t find the source… yet.

[ It's Minato, Minato will take his trash.

Alright... He squints out at the water as far as he can see, the water remarkably clear but at the same time, expansive and deep. ]

...Over there?

[ He points to a spot a little too far away to get a clear picture of what's under the surface where a large shadow lingers. It's either a school of fish... or a shark. ]

[omegathree]

[He loves his stupid prinnies.]

If it's a shark we're releasing it.

[But also he seems pretty willing to throw the net over in that direction if Minato is too.]

Sure. That's fair.

[ Minato is more than willing to have the net thrown, but it'll be on Val to actually throw the net. There's no way Minato can get it that far out into the water. ]

[Oh he can get it out there without a problem. I hope there's like a part he can use to tug it back.]

[compendiem]

[ There is not a part he can use to tug it back.

But Minato does have a tree branch with him that he'll lend Val if prompted? They can... attempt fishing the net out that way. ]

How are we getting it back?

I have a stick and some extra thread. We could make a fishing pole?

That should work.

[Otherwise Val will actually have to swim and I don't think he wants to.]

[ He might have to, seeing as this tree branch couldn't even hold Minato's weight, but maybe it's the sort of wood that becomes more pliable and stronger when wet?

Also, because Minato doesn't know how to make a fishing pole other than digging out the spools of thread out of his pants pocket and proceeding to tie a slip knot over one end of the stick. The knot is going to slip off, there is nothing to hold it in place. There is also no hook. ]

[... This is not going to work and Val is feeling a tinge of regret.]

The next time you make a net, make sure you have a way to hold onto it.

[But also he looks out into the ocean and starts walking into it. Which essentially just looks like he's sunk. There aren't any air bubbles or anything.]

.....I'll keep that in mind.

[ Val could say no... but instead, he walks into the water, leaving Minato to pace restlessly at the shoreline.

Week Zero

[It takes him a while because he can't swim and he's just walking along the bottom of the ocean now. But slowly and carefully the net gets dragged back to shore.

Val looks a bit like a drowned bat but he doesn't seem to have died from that excursion.]

...Vally, you're back.

[ Guess who met Lea while working on the net.

He doesn't have a towel or anything, so he can't offer that, but the least he can do is help lug the net in once it's on the shore. ]

[omegathree]

... Vally? Hm, that's a new one.

[He even smiles at it.]

[compendiem]

Yeah, Vally.

[ That's his name, and the fact that Val smiles at it means he accepts it and Minato takes it as permission to call him that forever. ]

You were gone for a while. Everything went alright down there?

[ Didn't have to, like... fight a shark off for these fish, did he? ]

[omegathree]

[Mr. Valzy, Val, Vally, Mr. Weirdo, he'll take any single one of them. Nicknames are a form of camaraderie, after all.]

It went just fine, I had to walk along the ocean floor to get to it.

[compendiem]

[ lmfao who is calling him Mr. Weirdo ]

Walk along...? How deep is the ocean floor?

[ Isn't it several thousand kilometers............ but it's not like this is one of The Oceans, and maybe the floor doesn't drop as steeply here than it does on other beaches. ]

It's rather deep, humans like you shouldn't try something like that.

Hm... If I had a very long straw and concrete block shoes, I bet I could reach the bottom.

[ And never get up again. But that's neither here nor there; Minato turns his attention to the fish in the net, not moving to touch them or anything, and just sort of watches them flopping and dying. ]

...You know how to cook them, right?

[ Because Minato does not ]

[Well he's never stopped a child from doing anything stupid before so he just lets that threat(?) go.]

I don't need to cook them. I prefer to eat them fully raw.

[Oh no.]

Like... sashimi raw, or "I can survive getting stabbed in the throat" raw?

[ Gross is one thing, but there's also bones and scales, Val... ]

[Yeah, he just... eats them whole. CRUNCH CRUNCH CRUNCH]

I think I might puncture something if I tried, so why don't you take these fish?

It seems odd to take them all when you were the one who made the net. [He says dripping ocean water on the pier.] If it's necessary for you to cook them, simply pan fry them for a few minutes on each side.

[This is the extent of his cooking knowledge and it's still better than most demons.]

[ Valvatorez was the one who dragged the fish up, so it'd make sense for him to take the bulk, if not all of them. ]

I can only eat one or two at a time, so I'll just take that many. Do you think the fish will cook properly if I drop it into the volcano?

[ Pan frying requires a pan. The volcano is right there. ]
