On Monday morning, the sun rises on the sleepy village, and when the first ray of light touches the gates at each corner of the village, the previously tightly sealed doors open.

The barriers around the village fall, and leave it entirely open. Each cardinal direction will have a path exiting the village, taking the curious explorers who follow it on an adventure to new territories to be explored. They’ll find that each location that they arrive in appears to be associated with one of the elements. As the Signs had explained the day before, each of the participants in the game possesses an elemental assignment, whether they are aware of it or not.

When they approach the elemental areas, they’ll find themselves more in tune with their new powerset, as if the location invites them to take them out for a spin. The new areas appear to be perfect for training and learning how to use the new skills, or maybe if you’re curious you can discover which of those listed powers you’ve been granted.

Just try not to hurt yourself while you’re out there.

In addition, it seems now that more pieces of the core are being revealed, the river that runs through the village will begin to be dotted with small lanterns floating on the water. Some of them seem to be holding small notes. Try as you might to grab one, they’ll always just barely float out of reach.

Perhaps try sending one yourself and see what results you might get?

Occasionally in the village, you might hear the sound of drums and flutes - is that festival music? - though no matter how you search, you can’t find the source… yet.

[Okay no, she can't guarantee it, but it sounds like such a nice thing to say anyway]

Anyways, Sol-san~ Would you like a dance with me?

Then I'm glad we did it. [And they're cool with leaving it at that, but uh. Ah? Ahhhhh??]

...me? [Who the fuck else is called Sol. They're pretty surprised though and seem to fumble for an answer.] I wasn't really...[Uh x2.] I've never done this before. Is that okay?

Of course it's okay. The important part is to try.

[holding out a hand~ Yes please, come take it, Sol +_+]

Don't worry, I'll lead you through it.

[She's not wrong, and that seems to work because Sol takes her hand and steps closer. Please lead the way because dancing is still one of those things they know in theory but not in practice.]

If you say so. [But they also sound a little excited because it seems fun.]

[it is fun! Or Nana seems to think so. She's also a little excited as she leads them towards a bit of floor that isn't pressed tight with bodies. More room in case there are any accidents.]

Here, how about we start with... a waltz! Just follow my lead.

[One, two, three -- one two three~ Nice and easy, Nana pulls back so that Sol will follow]

[Nana is literally the best person here for this very reason. Sol follows and holds onto her hand before stopping in front of her and sliding into a waltz. The steps are a little clumsy but at least following directions is easy enough.]

Do you do this a lot? [Nana explain.]

Every single day for hours and hours.

[THE THEATRE LIFE]

I got to Seisho Music Academy. They're known for producing very talented individuals who excel at acting, dancing, script writing... all kinds of jobs in the spotlight.

Wow...[A misstep because they're distracted by that news. That sounds like a lot of work but also a lot of fun.] So you can do all of those? No wonder you're good at this.

[It raises the question of why the universe brought Nana, but that's better left unsaid.]

Well... I can do some of them. Between you and me, I'm not very good at script writing yet. I can never decide on an ending I want for a story.

[Which isn't really an important topic -- perhaps not even one Sol can understand. So still smiling, Nana switches gears]

What about you, Sol-san? Do you have any hobbies?

Maybe stories can have different endings. Write all of them and see what sounds best. [They don't mind letting go of that subject though. ]

Lately? Reading. But I used to spend a lot of time with my friends.

Your friends...

[A hum of thought]

So when we solve this darkness problem, you'll get to go back to them?

Maybe. [Vague.] I hope that's what happens.

What was happening for you before you came here?

Oh, the normal school things~

Dancing, singing, a lot of practicing...

I don't really understand why a normal girl like me would be here. I'm not even the top star at my school, to be honest.

Does that really matter so much? You're still pretty good at what you do even if you're not the best. [What a world though. It's hard for them to imagine a lifetime of just performing like that.] I think Lune would say "it takes all sorts" when it comes to stuff like this anyway.

That's true. Even in plays, you want people who can fulfill a variety of different roles.

Everyone acting the same is just boring for the audience.

Exactly. If everyone was exactly the same...that'd be pretty bad, actually. So even if it doesn't feel like it, you're gonna have a big part here. I know it.

...you're already helping out by cooking for people. [They've heard about that, at least.]

Me?

[Almost pausing mid-step like she's been caught redhanded, but manages to conduct herself at the last second before tripping both of them up. Her expression turns a little bashful]

I-- I mean, I couldn't leave everyone here hungry. And I cook a lot back home, too.

[a smaller smile]

It's nice to be able to keep helping.

[Cute. But also thanks for not sending both of them face-down to the ground, Nana.]

I've read those scrolls. I think we're kind of lacking in that department, so it's a really big help. [Food is needed to live, so thanks for keeping everyone alive.] It's still really nice of you. Some people might be more selfish about it.

Selfish?

[Head tilting in thought, trying to imagine this]

You mean someone who knows how to cook but wouldn't be willing to share that skill?

Right. Maybe selfish isn't the right word, but I don't think it's very fair not to share if it can help people.

No, I agree with you.

We need to pool our resources together to combat the darkness.

[That's what they were brought here for, after all.

... Though that's a pretty dark thought for what's supposed to be a dance, so expression suddenly mischievous, Nana stops and gives Sol a twirl. Hehehehe.]

[You'd think Sol would be encouraging and say something like "yeah we do!" or "you're right, and we will", but no. No, instead, Nana takes the lead and there's a twirl.]

Whoa! [Spinning! They're spinning and they grapple for her hands to stay upright.

...but there's also a laugh.] Give me a break. I'm still learning here, remember?

Ah, right. Sorry, sorry~

[LOOK AT THIS FACE. Definitely the expression of someone who feels bad for their crimes]

But you're doing so well! I was terrible when I first learned how to dance, y'know.

[Nana is forgiven for everything.]

You're really good though...are you a fast learner? [They seem to have this idea that Nana being bad at this is ludicrous.]

Not at all. I tend to learn very slow.

I just... try my best.

[And worry obsessively hard to reach the results she wants, but there's no humble way to say it.]
