Week Two

As the sun rises on Monday morning, all participants will find themselves awakening with a sense of purpose. Regardless of where they slept the night before, they’ll find themselves compelled to return to the main meeting hall first thing in the morning.

Approaching the hall, however, they will find a large, swirling mass grey in color looming near the sakura tree. This swirl cannot be approached just yet, but seems to be locked and waiting for something more.

As the last member of the village enters the hall, they will find Lune and Sol at the head of the room. Though they’re together, it’s Lune who speaks up first this time.

"Good morning, good morning. You've done well to purge the corruption in the previous gateway - allow us to assist with the finishing touches. For the time being, it would appear as though we've been able to locate another. The land might appear a bit familiar to some however... I only advise you watch your step."

When Lune finishes, Sol chimes in from their place at Lune's side.

"The corruption is still out there, and we're going to do all that we can to find a way to contain it. But until then... stick close to others this week. Do your best to protect yourselves and look after each other. Okay?"

The moment participants leave the hall, they will find that the gateway has changed from grey to white, the opening widening enough for multiple people to step through. The Signs will soon take their leave, and all will remain peaceful once more.

The only oddity is that throughout the week, in a noise that extends past the portal but seems to resound even through the village, there will be the occasional, resounding call of a war horn.

In addition, as the week goes on, partners will find ever-growing feelings of anxiety and nervousness dwelling within them the longer they are separated from one another. They will feel compelled to be very close to their partners at all times, and will be on edge if separated for more than an hour by the end of the week. Welcome to surprise codependence at its finest.

[ thankfully, after pulling up a whole person, the bat is easier? so soon enough he'll have a nailbat. ]

[ Reunited with his nailbat!!! ]

Thanks, Naminé. ...How strong are the vines, do you think?

[ He wants to test something out... ]

[whitewalls]

I'm not sure.

[ she wasn't even entirely sure she'd be able to lift minato with them. ]

Why?

If the forest is full of traps, we could avoid most of them if you're able to vault us over the trees.

[whitewalls]

I'm not sure if I'm good enough to do that...

[ that sounds very tarzan ]

[compendiem]

I believe in you.

[ let's try it anyways ]

[ there's a pause

it's a long pause ]

I'm not supposed to do things with you that might be dangerous anymore...

[ ...He looks confused. ]

But then... we couldn't hang out together anymore.

[ Absolutely anything could be dangerous? Minato could find a way. ]

[whitewalls]

[ she taps her chin lightly as she figures out a way to say this. ]

... a couple of people approached me about the coffee bet we made, and they told me not to do anything that might hurt you again.

[ ... ]

I'm sorry about that, by the way. I shouldn't have made the bet.

[compendiem]

[ Honestly, he's surprised that a couple of people got involved, any more than just one. ]

I kinda got scolded for it too... But it's not your fault. I'm the one that agreed to the bet, after all. [ Actually, he thinks he's the one who proposed it. Hm. ]

[whitewalls]

Still... I wouldn't want you to get hurt. People care about you.

[ ... ]

So I'm going to protect you and make sure you stay safe.

[compendiem]

[ People caring about him sounds fake, but isn't this entire conversation proof that people do? He rubs at the back of his neck, wondering if he should just be staying in bed all the time so people would stop worrying. ]

Thanks, Naminé. I care about you too, so I don't want you to get in trouble on my behalf. I'll do my best for you too.

[whitewalls]

... okay. We'll take care of each other then.

[ that's what friends do, right?

she... thinks they might be friends, anyway. it feels weird to ask in case he says no. ]

[compendiem]

[ I'm glad she doesn't ask, because Minato would just give her a really dumb look that could be taken too many ways. ]

Yep. We'll take care of each other.

[ He holds his hand out to her, the other one lifting up his nailbat so he can poke at the ground and maybe trigger anything that'll kill them before it kills them. ]

[whitewalls]

[ she blinks, and then reach over to take his hand. naminé smiles brightly at him. ]

Are we going to explore?

[compendiem]

Mm, yep. I didn't do a real good job last week, spending all my time in one spot, so this time, I—

[ A spring trap wraps around his nailbat and wrenches it out of his hands. ]

...

[whitewalls]

...

[ that was fast.

she will carefully walk forward, tugging minato with her to see if she can

try to wrestle this bat out. it'll be easier with two hands. ]

[compendiem]

[ He's a little more hesitant, but he goes along with her. The bat swings overhead, kind of dangerously but at least the path is slow, predictable, and easily avoidable. Minato holds the bat steady while Naminé tries to untangle it. ]

[whitewalls]

[ see? teamwork. together they will eventually conquer all of the ninja traps, in theory,

it takes a couple of minutes as she needs to make sure she doesn't stab herself with any nails. eventually though, it'll get loose. ]

There! Another trap defeated.

[compendiem]

Yeah... Wonder why there's so many traps. Maybe you could get the vines to feel forward for us? If that isn't too much?

[whitewalls]

I can give it a try.

[ she just has to concentrate for a moment

and the vines start moving. slowly, again, but they're going forward-- one gets caught in a net immediately. ]

We can start walking behind it all, okay?

[compendiem]

Okay.

[ Poor vines. but at least this way, whatever gets caught will just... decompose, eventually, giving back to the forest.

Minato takes Naminé's hand again to walk with her. ]

[whitewalls]

[ and off they go again, hand in hand. she'll stop walking every now and then to watch where the vines go before following along. ]

I wonder why this place has so many traps...?

[compendiem]

Hm... Forests are just like that. That's how it is in video games. Plains are usually safe.

[ Mountains are tough, so are deserts. You get attacked in forests, that much is obvious. ]
