The transition from unconsciousness to the waking world is practically seamless. Though you're certain this wasn't where you meant to end up, for a few brief moments it's hard to grasp the situation and take in your surroundings.

A soft twilight lights your way, casting a glow over the sprawling village that fans out around you. Just outside of the large meeting hall you'll find yourself awakening among several others who have found themselves in this place. There's a sense of peace that looms over the area, the only sounds being the cheerful chirp of a stray bird or two and the babbling brook that runs through the village itself.

Stand up, dust yourself off and set out. There are plenty of places to explore and should you venture far enough you'll even find several little houses throughout the village. It may take some time, but as you check out each house you'll soon come across something that belongs to you...along with something that doesn't. It seems that this new residence is yours to share. As for the village itself, the other buildings appear open and well-stocked, providing you with a variety of amenities to utilize. The paths leading out of the village, however, are guarded by four ornate wooden gates. No matter how hard you try, they will not let you past. It seems that the time isn't right yet.

Speaking of, the only way to truly track the passage of time is by charting the movements of the sun but that can prove to be quite difficult as well. As the sun dips below the horizon and the night sky fills with stars, the bell at the shrine rings out to signal the end of your first day. No one else has arrived. It's only you and these strangers for now.

It seems as though you'll have plenty of time to get acquainted with your fellow companions. Make yourself comfortable; when the time is right, answers will appear.



Welcome to the soft intro of Subdivided! This is your intro mingle and the current conditions will last through the weekend until Monday, June 3rd at which point the weekly log will go up. Your characters will not know anything about the partner system, how powers work or any plot-relevant information until Monday. However, characters are free to discover their power through trial and error and will have access to their item from home immediately.

Please note that an additional top-level to introduce NPCs and Game Mechanics will go up on Sunday, 4 PM EST.

[ Four initially keeps away from people upon waking. A new place, new people, new everything— it's alarming, to say the least. Being kidnapped is no joke.

Once she calms down, she examines everything. Her own profile makes her brows knit. She bites her lip, glances at other scrolls, and schools her expression into something more prim. ]

I'm sorry, but how true do you think all this is?

[ She waves a hand at the scrolls. ]

[ Knowledge is power. Isn't that what they say?

Four is on the second floor of the library, pulling out encyclopedias, atlases, and history books. She flips through the pages and greets anyone who comes to check out the library with a smile. ]

Do you think there's any information about where we are in all of this? I haven't found anything yet, but I couldn't stand doing nothing.

[ Four keeps going in and out of the boutique. The time she spends inside varies, but it looks like she's pacing in and out of the building if no one stops her.

The more times she comes out without anything, the more anxious or agitated she seems. Weird. ]

[ hit me with anything! she can be found anywhere, exploring. please make her life hell. ]

Mine's true so that's all that matters. [Not that it'd be too hard to figure out her profile was true, haha] What the rest say doesn't matter, I bet everyone will start telling others what's true and what isn't.

[To cover their backs in case anything too bad was said, she figures]

[ Four backs up automatically, but she catches herself before she takes too many steps back. She seeks out Grim Eyes' scroll. ]

Being a stalwart ally is admirable. Are any of them here with you?

[Grim Eyes scoffs, looking like she was about to laugh for a moment]

If any of them were around you wouldn't be asking that. You'd already be in a weird mess.

[During the short time she knew them, she found out they have a way of bringing trouble wherever they go, or so it seemed to her]

[shess is just exploring the area, really, and the boutique means nothing to him. but it's kind of hard to miss this girl?

after taking out his tablet, he writes something down. a digital voice comes out from the device.]

Is everything all right?

[ Four is from the year 1000. A weird fantasy version of the year 1000, but still, what the heck is technology?

She jumps in surprise at that unnatural-sounding voice. From the... thing. ]

What magic is that?

[ Totally ignoring his question. ]

[nonbelligerent]

[NOBODY KNOWS TECHNOLOGY HERE though shess isn't that surprised.]

It's a device that generates speech. It repeats whatever I write on it.

[Emma wanders into the section of the library where Four is reading, holding a few books of her own. She looks up, shaking her head with a sigh.]

If there is, I haven't found it yet. This place is huge.

[ Four glances at the books Emma's holding. What doe she have on her reading list? ]

It is. I don't want to make too many assumptions, but I wonder if we'll be able to meet someone who's originally from here.

[A brief glance would show that they're all history, but of more recent time periods - she'd hoped to find a book that might reveal something about this place, too, and it seemed like a good place to start.]

Yeah. The list of questions I want to ask them is getting longer by the second.

[ Minato glances over at the scrolls, looking for his, and also Four's, who I may occasionally refer to as Clover out of habit and I'm so sorry. ]

Hm... Yours or mine?

[ Let Minato find a four-leaf clover in the garden and then get a rash of bad luck.

She looks for his scroll, and her brows knit together even more. What are those abilities....? ]

Both, but I imagine you'd have a better grasp about how much truth yours holds.

[ I'll make this happen, as if I'm not bad luck enough for him. ]

I guess... I haven't been measured since the start of the year, though. Maybe I've grown since?

[ That is, of course, the only discrepancy he can find on his own profile. ]

Mine is fairly accurate, although I feel it left out some key details. Why? Is there a problem with yours?

I'm a little confused by mine. That's all. What was left out on yours?

To start with, there is no mention of my crowning glory as an identifying feature. Merely saying my hair is "spiritually styled" is hardly enough!

That's not quite it. I don't necessarily want anything, but there's no one to make an exchange with.

I think that means you can just take what you want. I don't think we have to follow the ordinary rules of shopping in a place like this.

If it were up to me? It wouldn't say anything at all. It's an invasion of privacy and if I have to be introduced, I'd rather do it myself than allow it to be done by an unknown party with questionable means of getting all this information.
