The transition from unconsciousness to the waking world is practically seamless. Though you're certain this wasn't where you meant to end up, for a few brief moments it's hard to grasp the situation and take in your surroundings.

A soft twilight lights your way, casting a glow over the sprawling village that fans out around you. Just outside of the large meeting hall you'll find yourself awakening among several others who have found themselves in this place. There's a sense of peace that looms over the area, the only sounds being the cheerful chirp of a stray bird or two and the babbling brook that runs through the village itself.

Stand up, dust yourself off and set out. There are plenty of places to explore and should you venture far enough you'll even find several little houses throughout the village. It may take some time, but as you check out each house you'll soon come across something that belongs to you...along with something that doesn't. It seems that this new residence is yours to share. As for the village itself, the other buildings appear open and well-stocked, providing you with a variety of amenities to utilize. The paths leading out of the village, however, are guarded by four ornate wooden gates. No matter how hard you try, they will not let you past. It seems that the time isn't right yet.

Speaking of, the only way to truly track the passage of time is by charting the movements of the sun but that can prove to be quite difficult as well. As the sun dips below the horizon and the night sky fills with stars, the bell at the shrine rings out to signal the end of your first day. No one else has arrived. It's only you and these strangers for now.

It seems as though you'll have plenty of time to get acquainted with your fellow companions. Make yourself comfortable; when the time is right, answers will appear.



Welcome to the soft intro of Subdivided! This is your intro mingle and the current conditions will last through the weekend until Monday, June 3rd at which point the weekly log will go up. Your characters will not know anything about the partner system, how powers work or any plot-relevant information until Monday. However, characters are free to discover their power through trial and error and will have access to their item from home immediately.

Please note that an additional top-level to introduce NPCs and Game Mechanics will go up on Sunday, 4 PM EST.

[ Yeah, what the fuck, Axel? Minato slows to a stop in front of him, looking down at Axel's hand and then pulling his own out of his pockets to mirror the gesture. ]

Carpal tunnel?

[ Weak grip? There's some strengthening exercise that would be good for him, but Minato would have to google it ]

[leaberator]

[ wow. it's embarrassing when someone else does it. he coughs a bit and laughs, waving it off ]

Man, I wish. That'd be an easier fix than whatever's happening right now. [ will he explain that? no. ]

[ Explain............

Minato doesn't ask, though, sliding his hand back into his pocket, and giving Axel a shrug. ]

Does it hurt?

[ It's something worse than carpal tunnel, is all he's going to assume. ]

Only my pride and self-esteem, but they're used to taking a beating.

[ badumtshhhh. ]

Oh.

[ What does he say to this? ]

Sorry.

[ Is this what you say? He doesn't know. ]

I think you're fine, so... Cheer up...?

[ He's bad at this, probably. ]

[leaberator]

[ oh my god ]

... It was a joke. [ this is somehow embarrassing to admit now? ] But thanks?

[ Don't joke about this sort of stuff?? Minato almost empathized. ]

Mm. You're welcome. [ At least this, he knows how to answer. ] Your hand is really okay?

[leaberator]

Yep. The hand's fine, it's what it can't do that's ruining my day. [ but let us please move on on his keyblade dysfunction ] You're a worrier, huh? Even with strangers.

[ he doesn't sound judgmental about it though ]

...I guess.

[ Minato looks down, and does the opening and closing thing with his hand again. ]

I used to be able to help when people were hurt, and now I can't. So it's a little worrisome.

[leaberator]

Able to help... Physically, or emotionally?

[ that's a really weird way to ask if it's magic he can't do, but he has a point-- ]

'Cause I think you did alright on the latter.

[ not that he was ever in actual emotional distress, but look, he's trying ]

[compendiem]

[ Oh, that's embarrassing. It's the faintest of reactions that pass across Minato's face- furrowed brow, downturn of the mouth- before everything smooths out again. ]

Thanks. I've been trying to get better at it.

[ That was his best effort, back then. He appreciates the vote of confidence. ]

I don't really know about emotionally, but... physically, I guess? Sort of.

[leaberator]

[ aw, that's cute. he decides to not embarrass the kid further. for now. ]

"Sort of"? Are we talking the sort of stuff a little cure spell can fix, or?

[ it's called dia axel you fool ]

Sort of?

[ He repeats it again, because it's sort of. Little cure spells, and much larger ones too. Bringing people back to life. That sort of scale. ]

But I can't do it here, so it doesn't matter.

[leaberator]

[ ... hm ]

Yeah, I'm kind of on the fritz too. I was trying to summon something earlier. Thought it was just me messing it up again, though.

[compendiem]

[ He opens and closes his hands, as if that would answer the burning question of what, but it won't come to him if he doesn't ask outright. ]

What were you trying to summon? Fire?

[leaberator]

Oh, I didn't even try that one.

[ he snaps his fingers and. there's a tiny fire. on the ground.

closes my eyes everyone else is going to be a fucking secret except this idiot ]

-- Of course that works. C'mon.

[compendiem]

[ Oh my god ]

I think the gate might be flammable?

[ Naminé thought this would be a bad idea, but she's wrong. ]

[leaberator]

[ ... ]

Probably won't hurt to try.

[ this is a terrible idea and namine was right ]

Wanna come with?

[compendiem]

[ Hell yeah hell yeah ]

Hell yeah.

[ How exciting... This idyllic little place with all the trees and plants and stuff, he hopes Axel has good control over his fire. And that there isn't a sudden burst of wind. But they will deal with things as they come. ]

[leaberator]

[ it's fine he has a lot of practice not burning things. off they go to the gate!! ]

Hopefully whatever's keeping that thing closed isn't a magic barrier.

[ he says, still fully getting ready to set it on fire ]

Oh... If it repels fire, that might be bad.

[ The magic barriers Minato knows tend to be annoying, returning everything you throw at them and KOing his entire party all at once. ]

Can you do the fire thing at a distance?

[leaberator]

Yeah, I can definitely do distance.

[ why does he sound amused. why is he like that. anyway, here they are near the gate ]

You might wanna stay behind me, just in case.

[compendiem]

[ Here they are at the gate!! Minato does not move behind Axel; he stands shoulder to shoulder. ]

I can't see if I stand behind you...

[ He wants a front row seat to this, please ]

Then take a step to the side.

[ dummy? ]

It's just safety precautions, c'mon.

[compendiem]

[ Yeah, he's a dummy. But he's a compliant dummy, and takes exactly one step to the side; it's a shuffled step, more like half a step, but he does make some space. ]
