Week Seven
13 in Competition

As the sun rises on Monday morning, all participants will find themselves awakening with a sense of purpose. Regardless of where they slept the night before, they’ll find themselves compelled to return to the main meeting hall first thing in the morning.

Approaching the hall, however, they will find a large, swirling mass grey in color looming near the sakura tree. This swirl cannot be approached just yet, but seems to be locked and waiting for something more.

As the last member of the village enters the hall, they will find Lune and Sol at the head of the room. Though they’re together, it’s Sol who speaks up first this time.

"Morning. As usual, you guys were a big help in purging the darkness that lingered in the gateway from last week. We'll take it from here." There's a pause. "...we've got a new one for you, but there's something really weird about it. It's even larger than the last, so be careful when you're out there."

When Sol finishes, Lune picks up where they left off.

"Would it be odd to say that I believe you are all doing well? Your growth has been admirable.... Have heart as you continue to move forward."

The moment participants leave the hall, they will find that the gateway has changed from grey to white, the opening widening enough for multiple people to step through. The Signs will soon take their leave, and all will remain peaceful once more.

In addition, as the week goes on, everyone will find that somewhere on their person, a small word is printed displaying their most prominent trait. Though they may not agree, or even realize it, this is a trait that most strongly defines them and over the week this trait will slowly become amplified.

Yeah, let's go raid the kitchen.

[ OFF THEY GO ]

[ he could have given Minato a fake optimistic answer oh my god

but alright, Minato's going to carry back as much bread as he can and be really fucking sad when he just glitches through everything in town. For now, though, Kara is occupied, so Minato's looking forward to seeing the kitchen again and being in there without requiring constant vigilance. ]

I haven't had coffee in a while... Oh. I promised Miki I would eat a vegetable this week, too.

[leaberator]

[ wow he was going for a dramatic reveal!!! once they're in there axel leans on a counter and watches him go. literally. go through stuff and yet hoard items. it's hilarious ]

Sol guessed about two or three more weeks 'til the end, so stock up, alright? We don't need you lamenting your lack of food. [ he makes a face at the veggie thing because he's an adult. ] Get some cucumbers, they're technically vegetables but they don't taste like anything.

[ axel and the cucumber discourse ]

[compendiem]

[ He can't even touch the food? Oh my god, being dead is the worst. He sort of just phases through the refrigerator door and gives Axel a horrified look with his arm halfway through the door. ]

Why...? I'm going to need your help, Axel. But no cucumbers, because they're bitter.

[leaberator]

Bitter...?

[ well, he opens the refrigerator door and gets ready to help minato pick his lunch. or something ]

Okay, so... how about a tomato? There's gotta be something that'll get Miki off your back.

[compendiem]

[ Thank you... Minato hovers beside Axel and points out stuff he wants, and sometimes his arm glitches through Axel's face or shoulder but that's fine? Actually, this is convenient, because he doesn't have to worry about being in the way. ]

It's bitter. Julius doesn't like tomatoes, so it can't be tomatoes... Are potatoes a vegetable? Four doesn't think so. Oh- can you get some apples for Swift Wind too?

[leaberator]

Potatoes are like... a root vegetable, right? They're fake veggies. Carrots, maybe? No one hates carrots.

[ he has no idea what he's talking about, but he's distracted by minato's arm going through him ]

Just so you know, that's a little bit freaky.

[compendiem]

Fake veggie should still count as a veggie...

[ He moves his arm so that his hand phases through one of Axel's eyes ]

Can you see flesh and bone? What's it like?

[leaberator]

[ he shudders a bit and steps the fuck away from THAT, waving both arms around ]

Gaaah, stop that! It's weird! I can't see anything except your arm an' my brain's freaking out!

[compendiem]

[ Minato laughs, because, yeah. He's the sort of person who likes weird stuff, pulling his hand back and standing still. ]

Hey, stick your arm through my head. I want to see what it's like too.

[leaberator]

[ Lea... CLEARLY hesitates but whatever, why not, if Minato asked about it. He puts his hand through Minato's head. ]

Ughhh, it's weird from this side too...

[ he says that but he makes bunny ears on the other side of minato's head. ha ha. ]

[compendiem]

[ It's a weird, short circuiting feeling, with Axel's voice cracking and distorting and Minato unable to speak with something messing up his face.

So weird.

He walks forward so that he passes straight through Axel. ]

[leaberator]

Please stop that.

[ he hates it? he hates it ]

[compendiem]

Okay, okay.

[ He stops that, and takes another step back for good measure. ]

I thought of a really cool experiment, though, if you can help me with it... Just need you to carry something back for me. Bread or whatever sort of food. Anything will work.

[leaberator]

Alright?

[ he grabs a bread because. that is what minato said. but. ]

What do we do with all the other stuff?

[ the kitchen's a mess??? ]

[compendiem]

...Carry what you can, and Ookurikara will know where the rest goes?

[ And Minato will be gone, and everything will be okay ]

[leaberator]

[ ............. ookurikara doesn't have to know that axel was part of this but he does carry more than strictly necessary to try and make sure the mess left is. less. than it could be ]

Quick, before he sees us.

[compendiem]

[ Minato grins and breaks into a jog— not a full run, because that takes too much energy, and he can pretend it's so he's being conscientious and not leaving Axel behind. But he also definitely cuts corners and phases himself through buildings and lampposts and whatever instead of walking around them. ]

[leaberator]

Wh-- slow down, already! Some of us are still corporeal!

[ brat. it'd be more believable if he didn't sound amused. lea's not jogging or running, though, because fuck that. he doesn't have to!!! he could drop this croissant bread!!! where are they even going. ]

[compendiem]

[ They're going back to the meeting hall where I presume the portal back is, where Minato stops right in front of to block the way so Axel can catch up and meet up with him before they launch phase 1 of the plan. ]

[leaberator]

[ i have no idea where the portal is because i refuse to read so sure let's pretend it's there. i think it's in the gateway but shhh. axel finally catches up and stares at the portal ]

Alright... What did you wanna do?

[compendiem]

[ The moment I died I stopped reading anything, so there's there wherever the portal is, it's fine. Minato needs it to be the portal between the village and the Digital World, because what he wants to do— and what he does— is phase his hand through the croissant and keep it there. ]

'cause I can touch stuff on the other side, but not over here, right? So if I keep it like this, and we walk through the portal together, the bread will fuse together with my hand?

[leaberator]

[ um ]

Why do you want the bread to fuse with your hand.

[compendiem]

I don't want it to, but I thought it would be interesting to see if it happens?

[leaberator]

Won't you be stuck without a hand if it does?
