Week Zero

On Monday morning, the sun rises on the sleepy village, and when the first ray of light touches the gates at each corner of the village, the previously tightly sealed doors open.

The barriers around the village fall, and leave it entirely open. Each cardinal direction will have a path exiting the village, taking the curious explorers who follow it on an adventure to new territories to be explored. They’ll find that each location that they arrive in appears to be associated with one of the elements. As the Signs had explained the day before, each of the participants in the game possesses an elemental assignment, whether they are aware of it or not.

When they approach the elemental areas, they’ll find themselves more in tune with their new powerset, as if the location invites them to take them out for a spin. The new areas appear to be perfect for training and learning how to use the new skills, or maybe if you’re curious you can discover which of those listed powers you’ve been granted.

Just try not to hurt yourself while you’re out there.

In addition, it seems now that more pieces of the core are being revealed, the river that runs through the village will begin to be dotted with small lanterns floating on the water. Some of them seem to be holding small notes. Try as you might to grab one, they’ll always just barely float out of reach.

Perhaps try sending one yourself and see what results you might get?

Occasionally in the village, you might hear the sound of drums and flutes - is that festival music? - though no matter how you search, you can’t find the source… yet.

I. Dancing

[Oh Nana is here for this, the very mention of a dance having sent her to pick out something lavish and green. She's not shy about looking for partners, either. Regardless of if she's formally met someone, she will approach them, all smiles, a hand extended to take theirs if they'll allow it]

Would you like a dance?

[And for anyone who is willing to accept, just be warned -- Nana will be leading you around the dance floor, not the other way around, with a surprising amount of skill to boot]

II. Face Paints

[Ah, look at this. The spread of face paints has Nana pausing on her way to the buffet tables. Granted, they're not so cute that she's going to put any on herself for the moment, but she does pick up a brush and twirl it between her fingers, looking out into the crowd for volunteers]

Would you like a mask? I'll come up with someone cute, I promise!

III. Wildcard

Me?

[ she looks around, just in case there's someone else ]

[daibanana]

Of course~

I'd love to chance to dance with you.

[whitewalls]

[ she... considers...

and then takes the offered hand. ]

I don't know how.

[daibanana]

That's okay, I can teach you a few steps.

[Gonna slowly lead them towards the dance floor ... or just an unoccupied space where they won't bump into anyone]

I go to an academy that teaches us how to dance, so hopefully I'll be a good teacher~

[whitewalls]

Academies do that?

[ that sounds... not how she thought school to be like.

but naminé also easily goes along with her. ]

It's a specialized school. We specialize in dance, theatre, script writing...

Anything that will turn us into stars.

[whitewalls]

I didn't know there were schools like that...

[ she sounds thoughtful, and fairly fascinated. ]

You must like dancing then.

[daibanana]

[She's keeping their pace slow, with a hand holding Namine's and the other on her back -- an easy waltz that will be simple to imitate, she hopes.]

Oh, I love dancing and acting -- and script writing, too.

It's why I applied to Seisho in the first place.

[ Junna is dressed of the occasion as well, specifically to match Nana well. It is very likely that Nana dressed her at that.

Regardless, Junna takes position like it's second nature– one hand clasped in Nana's and the other resting on her upper back. ]

Dancing seems like the last thing we should be doing..

[daibanana]

Mmm but look at everyone perking up~

[Gesturing with her head towards their "comrades", at the laughter and the dancing and the palatable mood of happiness. Granted, Junna has a point, and they're still trapped in this village with no escape, but--]

They're in better spirits.

So once the night ends, we'll be able to focus a little better, right?

[Though regardless of Junna's response, Nana takes the first step backward, gently pulling her partner into a three-step waltz with her]

[starstricken]

[ Nana leads and Junna falls into step– fully present, fully a part of this dance despite how she chooses to follow (it's practical after all, Nana is the taller of the two). ]

Sounds like an excuse to goof off.

[ Not that Nana is one to goof off, as much as she seems enthused by these festivities. ]

Though I suppose there isn't much that can be done now.

[ They're stuck here for the time-being, and truthfully dancing is a much better option than sitting in their cottages and sulking. ]

Hey... does this look alright to you? I know you picked it but– 

[ Even despite the bashful expression on her face Junna's feet don't miss a beat. ]

It feels strange... to wear something like this for myself and not for a role.

[daibanana]

[Just a few steps in, and it's already much easier to fall into the rhythm when she's dancing with Junna. The relief she feels with a partner who knows what she's doing is soothing.]

I know what you mean. I don't usually wear something this glamorous.

[The boldest Nana gets is with printed skirts. A dress like this? She almost wishes she was wearing the suit]

But you look amazing, Junna-chan! And look at us -- don't we make a perfect match?

[starstricken]

.. Do we?

[ Nana's compliment and the idea that they fit together both make her stand up a little straighter (even despite her posture already being immaculate, mind you).

The serious frown on her face holds for a bit, before facing into something a bit more at ease and perhaps a bit bashful. ]

The color palettes do suit each other. I shouldn't expect any less from you, I suppose.

[ Junna that's not what she's talking about. ]

Standing out on the stage is one thing, but when it comes to things like this– .. I don't know if I'll ever get used to that.

[daibanana]

[Junna-chan, sweetie. That is not at all what Nana was talking about. The taller bites back an amused smile]

Hmmm...

Would it be easier to pretend it's just the two of us dancing?

[starstricken]

No, that's–

[ Her feet don't miss a beat but Junna fumbles with her words. It's a strange sort of contemporaneous duality. ]

I feel better in it now that I'm dancing. It was when I was standing around that I felt the most out of place.

It's strange how that works, isn't it? All it takes is choreography or a script to suddenly make you feel comfortable with pretending to be more than what you are.

[ Akane seems totally startled by the offer, and even looks around and then points to herself to make sure. Me??? Dance... With me???? ]

[daibanana]

Yes, that means you, Akane-chan~

[Look at this smile. None shall escape the banana. And she's going to just keep expectantly holding out her hand until she's either turned down or Akane takes the plunge]

[specialdog]

[ hmm, well. sure, why not? Akane takes Nana's hand, but admits: ]

I don't know how.

[daibanana]

That's alright.

So long as you don't mind me leading, I'll show you how.

[The banana appears to be in her element when it comes to dance. There's no hesitation once she starts leading the dance, a slow waltz that she hopes will be easy to follow along with]

[ Akane can follow without stepping on toes, at least. It's just not the smoothest; her movements are a bit stilted and awkward. She smiles through it, though. ]

Your profile said you were good at dancing.

[daibanana]

Mmmhmm! I have to be. My school requires everyone know how to.

[So good at it that she can, if Akane is ready for it, give the other girl a twirl. Because this Banana is extra sometimes]

Requires? What kind of a school is that?

--Oh! [ Akane is startled, but, well, okay. There are worse things can being twirled by a cute girl. ]

[tiny bird hyping himself on the sidelines... you can say it... it won't be weird, just go say it...! "Nana-san, the pudding is very good" "Nana-san, the pudding is very good"...]

[ok maybe more practice]

N- Nana-san, the pudding is very good. Nana-san, the pudding is very good-

... maybe I should just eat some more...

[he is very distracted and won't even notice when the person he's practicing to address is... behind him...]

Oh, it was, was it?

[LEANING RIGHT OVER SO HE CAN HEAR HER because Nana is just like that and tiny bird is so freaking cute.]
