On Monday morning, the sun rises on the sleepy village, and when the first ray of light touches the gates at each corner of the village, the previously tightly sealed doors open.
The barriers around the village fall, and leave it entirely open. Each cardinal direction will have a path exiting the village, taking the curious explorers who follow it on an adventure to new territories to be explored. They’ll find that each location that they arrive in appears to be associated with one of the elements. As the Signs had explained the day before, each of the participants in the game possesses an elemental assignment, whether they are aware of it or not.
When they approach the elemental areas, they’ll find themselves more in tune with their new powerset, as if the location invites them to take them out for a spin. The new areas appear to be perfect for training and learning how to use the new skills, or maybe if you’re curious you can discover which of those listed powers you’ve been granted.
Just try not to hurt yourself while you’re out there.
In addition, it seems now that more pieces of the core are being revealed, the river that runs through the village will begin to be dotted with small lanterns floating on the water. Some of them seem to be holding small notes. Try as you might to grab one, they’ll always just barely float out of reach.
Perhaps try sending one yourself and see what results you might get?
Occasionally in the village, you might hear the sound of drums and flutes - is that festival music? - though no matter how you search, you can’t find the source… yet.

Welcome to your tutorial week mingle log! Please see all the links within the log to check out the new updates. In addition, your status page has been updated. In case you missed it, please report all item theft to this top-level where all comments are screened. Private conversations are also open and should be reported under the Week 0 top-level.
A mini-event will also be posted on Wednesday, June 5th, so please keep an eye out for that!

[Grim Eyes hasn't been dancing at all yet, so of course she has been standing to a side. She was satisfied with that, and theeeeen came Kaoru to ask such a foolish question.
Foolish mainly because she knows nothing about dancing, therefore she doesn't want to try. She's not someone who gets embarrassed easily, but making a fool of herself is something she'd like not to do]
no subject
And why would I reconsider?
no subject
[The way her tone sounds makes a mystery whether she means she'd step on his feet on purpose or not.
...
She wouldn't because she's not petty, but yeah]
no subject
You must be very out of your element, aren't you? [Lightly, trying not to sound too snobby but still a little curious.]
no subject
[Grim Eyes isn't introverted by any means, but she sure is leagues below KAoru's gregarious personality]

It's part of my job to make sure guests are enjoying themselves and to mingle. [Which is true enough.] But parties can be fun if they're entertaining. So far this one has been the most entertaining thing here.
no subject
...fine. Let's give this a chance, just once.
[Looks like she's willing to dance]
no subject
We'll even start slow to teach you the steps. They're simple to pick up on.
no subject
[She doesn't learn new things as fast as she should, but shre sure isn't going to give up!]

Didn't think dancing was all about counting all the time. It's distracting.
[More like it's matter of time, Grim Eyes]
But this isn't as bad as I thought it'd be.
no subject
It's partially that and partially following a rhythm. Some dances don't require as much counting but it's the easiest way to learn. Dancing is also useful for learning your limits for balance and grace.
[Maybe saying that will make it sound more useful to her.]
no subject
I guess it'd be useful for that, although if I tell anyone that back at home they would doubt it's effective at all.
[The thought of she trying to test other people's balance and grace through dancing is kind of funny to her]
no subject
Are all people back where you're from like you? [...gruff, non-dancers, etc.]
no subject
[True, they are in general a serious species, but personalities are a thing -- although the vast majority are wary as hell at outsiders]
My grandmother would be the dancing type if she wasn't more than a hundred years old, I'm sure.
no subject
What do you do for fun then?
no subject
It's not often I can really do something for fun. Pretty embarrassing to admit being here's the most free time I had in ages.
[She's competent and with excellent standing among her people, so of course she's busy often. She doesn't mind, but free time and having a life? Not really much of an option]
I should thank you for taking the time to do this for me, so thanks.

I don't think you're the only one. A few others here have found the same thing, and so...perhaps it's for reasons like that that this place isn't as horrendous as it could be. [But there's a smile.] It's been my pleasure to help.
[It had started out teasing but now he means it, at least.]
