Week Five

As the sun rises on Monday morning, all participants will find themselves awakening with a sense of purpose. Regardless of where they slept the night before, they’ll find themselves compelled to return to the main meeting hall first thing in the morning.

Approaching the hall, however, they will find a large, swirling mass grey in color looming near the sakura tree. This swirl cannot be approached just yet, but seems to be locked and waiting for something more.

As the last member of the village enters the hall, they will find Lune and Sol at the head of the room. Though they’re together, it’s Lune who speaks up first this time.

"Good morning, good morning. You've done well to purge the corruption in the previous gateway - allow us to assist with the finishing touches. For the time being, it would appear as though we've been able to locate another. I would not grow complacent, but I also wonder if you all might enjoy the surprise."

When Lune finishes, Sol chimes in from their place at Lune's side.

"Maybe we can have another week like the last. It'd be nice, wouldn't it? Good luck out there."

The moment participants leave the hall, they will find that the gateway has changed from grey to white, the opening widening enough for multiple people to step through. The Signs will soon take their leave, and all will remain peaceful once more.

In addition, as the week goes on, partners will begin to see odd mirages and hear voices calling for them. Even though they might not realize it, these phantoms that will be haunting them will be their partner's most important person, calling for them to come home. Partners will only be able to see each other's illusions if they make physical contact.

[There's glitter in his hair and on his clothes, though it may be hard to tell when his hair is hidden under a hat and he's wearing a black button down shirt, tailored black pants, a vest made of the same material as the thick black and lavender fabric band of his hat and a lavender tie. He'll use any excuse to dress up and even on the blimp his mood is light as he walks up to the observation deck.

Granted...there's Miki and he's not going to do anything except hook an arm around her waist to pull her back a little.]

Maybe everyone's right. Fires have little self-preservation. [Please don't plummet to your death, thanks.]

[stillstands]

That group includes you, you know.

[ Plummeting to her doom sounds so dramatic. She leans back, reaching up to flick the brim of Kaoru’s hat, wrinkling her nose when it dislodges a smattering of glitter onto her. ]

This is fancy. Are you trying to become a ringmaster?

[twinsightful]

I never excluded myself, but I think I'm a little more cautious than some others we know. [Like Minato. Still, glitter falls from the hat and he laughs, doing nothing to bother wiping it off from her face or her hair. Now they match.

He's also not quite letting go? So that's fine.]

I think I just like the feathers. I wouldn't mind being a ringmaster though. Did you check out the large tent? There's all kinds of tricks and stunt equipment and everything.

[stillstands]

Only slightly. But... yeah, there are others who would fall out of a blimp before you or I did. [ She's trying to shake some of it off but all she's doing is spreading it around.

She's also not making him let go so? Yeah, that's probably fine. ]

I got to the costume tent and the one with all the food in but not the big one, no. So if there's a show while we're here that'd be the one it'd be hosted in?

[twinsightful]

[He's hooking his chin over her shoulder to look out toward the ground because, like, it's still a far way to fall? And yet she has a point.] I'd consider that a victory at least.

But that's what I'm thinking. The show hasn't started yet and I keep going back to look. It's like the anticipation's building for something that isn't ready yet. I have no idea what they're waiting for though.

[stillstands]

[ She'd rather not fall to her death, don't worry. Hello there. She's still not moving him away, so this is still fine. ] Hopefully the person we're probably both thinking of won't actually fall out of a blimp today as well, then it'll be a true victory.

There's no time posted? Maybe they're still doing final practice, or trying to finish up some parts of their act. Did you look around the tent completely?

[twinsightful]

I can't even guarantee that won't happen. Maybe we do need to appoint a glorified babysitter.

[But he shakes his head.] I looked around enough before I got bored and came here instead. I was going to check back later.

[stillstands]

I'm not sure who wouldn't end up wrapped up in his over the top antics, actually.

[ Hm. ] Did you want to go check it out? If we can get them to lower the blimp to get off it.

[twinsightful]

Four, maybe? Or Emma. [They're both kind of terrifying women, it's fine. But he looks away from the ground to face her again.]

Only if you want to come with me. I don't mind staying here either. [That'll probably last maybe ten minutes before he's fussed and wants to go explore again.] The rings of fire are an interesting challenge, too.

[stillstands]

Isn't he wary around Emma anyway? I doubt he'd play up when she was around. Same for Four. [ They're strong independent women who don't need no Minato jumping off blimps to ruin their lives. ]

It's a nice view but I'm happy to explore too. [ She twists her head slightly, to get another look out at the view, before looking back at Kaoru. ] Although, ring of fire?

[ D O U B T. ]

I have no idea why, but if that's true that would work to our advantage of keeping him in one spot and not jumping out of a blimp. [Hm...] And I did set him up with Four last week. It's worth considering.

[There's a grin. Please trust him, he is 100% full of good ideas.] Ring of fire. Like those hoops horses jump through that light up with flames.

[stillstands]

You set him up with--?? [ Oh. Poor Four. ] I can imagine that was tiring for her.

[ He is full of ideas, whether they're good is ??? questionable. ] ... And what are you planning on doing with those rings of fire?

Xion was there, too, it worked out okay. [It absolutely did not, but that's not his fault. But..ahaha.]

I want to test my powers some more. Is there something wrong with that?

[stillstands]

[ Just. A flat look. ]

... I guess that depends on if you set the tent on fire.

[twinsightful]

I will not set the tent on fire. [Lame.] The rings are contained and away from the walls, it'll be fine.

[stillstands]

I have an odd amount of faith that you’d be one of the people that could manage it, somehow.

[ it’s a healthy amount of Concern ]

... did you try out the Pepper Imp thing yet or does this all tie into checking out the rings?

[twinsightful]

I can't decide if that's sweet or insulting. [But it does nothing to wipe away the grin.]

It maybe ties into checking out the rings. I've been saving them for a special occasion. [Miki may have limited the exploding bonbons but she said nothing about Pepper Imps, so Kaoru wins.]

[stillstands]

[ Eh. ] When you do, then that's what it is.

[ she just. flat stares at him, still leaning back, and flicks at the brim of his hat again. ] Please do not torch this world before we can properly explore it. [ Look. She can see the usefulness of the Pepper Imps! But Kaoru + exploding sweets = bad?? ]

[twinsightful]

[Glitter rains down on both of them as she flicks his hat.] I'm not going to torch anything! I can control it so much better now...I've been practicing on my own. [And then, just so she can get off his case:] I've also been practicing my Morse.

[So there.]

[stillstands]

That’s good then. They did say the more we practice the better it’ll get.

[ And then she smiles. ] Oh? Then you can translate this message:

[ She lifts her hand, and taps out a message on y back of his hand, where it’s resting with his arm wrapped as it is. ]

[Give him a moment, he's busy trying to follow along…and he gets the gist of it and he uses his free hand to adjust the hat a little.]

I'm glad you like it because I'm keeping it. [Of course he is.] I'm not as fast as you are with sending messages, but I'm focusing on learning the letters to receive them.

[He winds his arm a little to return a tap to her hand, definitely slower but doable.]

[stillstands]

That doesn’t surprise me. [ It’s flashy enough. It makes sense. ]

I’ve been practising since the second week, it’s pretty natural that I’d be quicker at it by now. [ she focuses on the tapping and dashes for a moment, then nods. ]

Yup. Everyone learns in the way that’s best for them, anyway. Prioritising one part over the other is fine. [ ... ] Just don’t completely neglect the sending messages part, or it might get harder to pick it up.

[twinsightful]

[There's just a light laugh that follows that.]

I'm one of the top students of my year, Miki. I know how to study. [It's teasing, but...he gets it.] I'll practice on my own time. I promise. But you have to admit I'm doing fairly well.

[Praise him.]

[stillstands]

Morse is kinda weird though. It's not like... learning English or something similar. [ Still... ]

Yup. You're picking it up quickly. [ She reaches up and, instead of flicking the rim of his hat for a third time, she taps the tip of his nose with her finger. Boop. ] Well done.

[He's practically beaming, it's fine.]

Thanks. The faster we master this, the faster we can move on to something else to add to our plans, don't you think? It's weird, but it's also fairly straightforward. I can see why you'd want everyone to learn.
