On Monday morning, the sun rises on the sleepy village, and when the first ray of light touches the gates at each corner of the village, the previously tightly sealed doors open.

The barriers around the village fall, and leave it entirely open. Each cardinal direction will have a path exiting the village, taking the curious explorers who follow it on an adventure to new territories to be explored. They’ll find that each location that they arrive in appears to be associated with one of the elements. As the Signs had explained the day before, each of the participants in the game possesses an elemental assignment, whether they are aware of it or not.

When they approach the elemental areas, they’ll find themselves more in tune with their new powerset, as if the location invites them to take them out for a spin. The new areas appear to be perfect for training and learning how to use the new skills, or maybe if you’re curious you can discover which of those listed powers you’ve been granted.

Just try not to hurt yourself while you’re out there.

In addition, it seems now that more pieces of the core are being revealed, the river that runs through the village will begin to be dotted with small lanterns floating on the water. Some of them seem to be holding small notes. Try as you might to grab one, they’ll always just barely float out of reach.

Perhaps try sending one yourself and see what results you might get?

Occasionally in the village, you might hear the sound of drums and flutes - is that festival music? - though no matter how you search, you can’t find the source… yet.

[ Minato nods and takes the fish, but instead of biting into it like some sort of heathen, he puts it in his pants pockets like some sort of heathen. ]

Did you catch it yourself? I was having some trouble back at the pond.

[You know what? Maybe that's where Minato keeps his inventory. Val is from Disgaea, there's no way he'll question this nonsense.]

I found these in the kitchen. The taste like they were freshly caught

The kitchen... Do you know if it was somebody here that caught them?

[ Or is it a magically restockable fridge... ]

Just wondering, in case the food there is all we get, and we won't be provided any more.

I didn't see anyone put them inside of the kitchen.

We do have access to the ocean now. I can fish for more.

Oh... So you do know how to fish. Is it something easy enough to learn? I heard there were sharks in there.

[ Are those two things connected/does Minato want to eat a shark?? Who knows. But he does want to learn how to fish, if ever possible. Since there's nothing in the way of currency around here, best he can do is try to be self-sufficient. ]

If there are sharks, there must be something they're feeding on.

[There have to be fish in there.]

It's not so difficult to learn. I haven't seen any fishing poles but perhaps we can fashion a net.

A net might be easy enough to make... The place with all the clothes, there should be fabric and stuff there. And I know how to sew.

[ It's way too hot for Minato here; he'll be back, if Val absolutely wants to stay here. ]

I'm intending to stay here for a few more hours at least.

[ He will not be back soon, but he will check back within the next few days with a rudimentary fishing net in tow. It is probably garishly colored and more fabric-y than necessary, it'll be hard to cast and drag back up but maybe??? it'll work ]

[Val can be found here most days. Again, not actually doing anything with the lava or the fire around him except looking oddly comfortable.

Minato better have muscles to make that fabric net work.]

Yep, took a while 'cause I wanted to make sure it'd be large enough to hold a shark.

[ It's like five feet in all directions, probably not enough to hold a shark, unless it's a small one. Perfect size for fish, though. ]

You shouldn't eat a shark.

It's too high up on the food chain.

[But at the very least he'll get up and brush his cape off before starting to walk out of the volcano.]

Oh... Sustainable fishing?

[ Or something? Something about eating things too high up in the food chain causing an imbalance.

Minato lets Val take the lead away from the volcano, with the assumption he knows how to get to the ocean and of the best spot to go fishing. ]

Will you be alright over there? It's pretty chilly, compared to this place. If you're used to heat.

No, it'll be full of mercury. Humans like you shouldn't consume too much of it.

[He does actually know which way is to the ocean. The best spot... he won't know, because he hasn't spent that much time there.]

I don't mind the cold that much. This location the closest thing to home.

[ And here he thought Val was an environmentalist... Oh well. The best spot to go fishing is some sort of dock, so it wouldn't be too hard to find a place reaching out into the water. ]

[ Is Australia a desert..... Minato comes from an island nation, he doesn't know ]

[He looks lost for a moment before shaking his head. Not close.]

No, I'm from the Netherworld.

[ He was about to question the climate of the Netherlands, but that's not what Val said ]

Nether... Hell?

I suppose that's how humans might think of it.

How cool... When you get home, could you tell Satan I said hi?

[There's a short pause as he tries to run through all the monsters and demons he's recruited-]

[ It sounds like an insult, and Minato's inner Satan is taking offense to that. ]
