week zero: mingle
Week Zero
32 in Competition
32 in Competition
On Monday morning, the sun rises on the sleepy village, and when the first ray of light touches the gates at each corner of the village, the previously tightly sealed doors open.
The barriers around the village fall, and leave it entirely open. Each cardinal direction will have a path exiting the village, taking the curious explorers who follow it on an adventure to new territories to be explored. They’ll find that each location that they arrive in appears to be associated with one of the elements. As the Signs had explained the day before, each of the participants in the game possesses an elemental assignment, whether they are aware of it or not.
When they approach the elemental areas, they’ll find themselves more in tune with their new powerset, as if the location invites them to take them out for a spin. The new areas appear to be perfect for training and learning how to use the new skills, or maybe if you’re curious you can discover which of those listed powers you’ve been granted.
Just try not to hurt yourself while you’re out there.
In addition, it seems now that more pieces of the core are being revealed, the river that runs through the village will begin to be dotted with small lanterns floating on the water. Some of them seem to be holding small notes. Try as you might to grab one, they’ll always just barely float out of reach.
Perhaps try sending one yourself and see what results you might get?
Occasionally in the village, you might hear the sound of drums and flutes - is that festival music? - though no matter how you search, you can’t find the source… yet.

Welcome to your tutorial week mingle log! Please see all the links within the log to check out the new updates. In addition, your status page has been updated. In case you missed it, please report all item theft to this top-level where all comments are screened. Private conversations are also open and should be reported under the Week 0 top-level.
A mini-event will also be posted on Wednesday, June 5th, so please keep an eye out for that!

What are they mean to go toward?
[lune will hold a hand out as if expecting to be given one of the champagne glasses it's fine]
no subject
here's your drinks, lune-chan ]
For who is making this the most interesting!
[ that isn't a contest ]
no subject
Mm? Who is your opponent?
[lune sure as shit isn't competing]
no subject
[ they're just not aware this is a competition.
tsuru will take a glass for himself, also from a dangerous spot. the tower looks unsteady for a second, but it still holds. ]
This is open to everyone.
no subject
Ahh, I see.
[they do not]
In that case... you have entered quite a gauntlet.
[everyone is really fuckin weird]
no subject
[ because he'll just do something else to top whatever someone else does
despite no one else being aware of this competition he just made up?
tsuru takes a sip of the drink then pauses ]
Oh. Interesting taste.
no subject
lune will also take a drink at that, then making a thoughtful noise]
My, what a surprise.
How might I assign points to this beverage?
[please stop roasting tsuru this way]
no subject
he just breathes out another laugh, taking another sip of the drink. ]
Shouldn't I get the points? I handed it to you.
[ he literally just grabbed a bottle that was already at the banquet ]
no subject
Oh? Were you the one who put the bubbles inside of the glass?
[lune was surprised by... the fizz....]
no subject
No.
[ he's pouting again. ]
no subject
still, lune sounds like they're still smiling]
Then perhaps we ought to discover how it was done?
So you might be able to surprise more people in the future, and it will be entirely thanks to your efforts.
no subject
it really is funny how quickly he's smiling again at that. tsuru reaches for another bottle, this time of a different kind of drink. ]
Let's check to see if this one does the same then?
[ he'll also take another glass. ]
no subject
[lune is fine with this
i, however, am horrified of what tsuru is about to create]
no subject
First, let's see if this also has bubbles!
[ an experiment, if you will.
but he'll open the bottle and then proceed to pour its contents into the glass.
....
no bubbles. ]
no subject
here we are
. . . . ]
It's quite clear.
Is it water?
[no]
no subject
this
is fine?? it's fine. ]
Would you like to try?
[ he's going to kill them both ]
no subject
You are the guest - it would be inappropriate for me to have the first sip.
no subject
[ it's said with a shrug, and he'll go to take a large sip
........
and then wordlessly hands it over to lune. he is trying to keep his expression even as he swallows. ]
no subject
lune is
not sipping just yet as they watch tsuru]
... your review?
no subject
[ his voice is also very
even. which should probably be a warning sign.
he holds the glass out more to them. ]
no subject
warning sign
but lune will take the glass and after a moment, steel themselves to drink what remains in the glass
and then move to place it beside the champagne tower silently]
no subject
then back at lune
before quietly picking it up and pouring it into the champagne glass, and then placing it onto the champagne tower itself, in the spot where he had taken lune's glass from. ]
no subject
and lets this happen for some reason]
Shall we observe the food? Or would you care to dance?
[they're just gonna
walk away from it]
no subject
they sure are ]
i chose to do this, so... you can choose the next thing.
[ so it's up to lune where they escape to ]
no subject
anyway lune will appear thoughtful at that before beginning to meander in the direction of where the music is a bit louder]
Then I have always been a fan of the arts.
[time to dance]
