Week Three

As the sun rises on Monday morning, all participants will find themselves awakening with a sense of purpose. Regardless of where they slept the night before, they’ll find themselves compelled to return to the main meeting hall first thing in the morning.

Approaching the hall, however, they will find a large, swirling mass grey in color looming near the sakura tree. This swirl cannot be approached just yet, but seems to be locked and waiting for something more.

As the last member of the village enters the hall, they will find Lune and Sol at the head of the room. Though they’re together, it’s Lune who speaks up first this time.

"Good morning, good morning. You've done well to purge the corruption in the previous gateway - allow us to assist with the finishing touches. For the time being, it would appear as though we've been able to locate another. I wonder if you'll find the skyline familiar? Do try to be kind to those you find on the other side."

When Lune finishes, Sol chimes in from their place at Lune's side.

"You guys did great minimizing the damage and working together...so keep it up."

The moment participants leave the hall, they will find that the gateway has changed from grey to white, the opening widening enough for multiple people to step through. The Signs will soon take their leave, and all will remain peaceful once more.

In addition, as the week goes on, partners will begin to experience the emotions of one another. The clarity of these emotions enhances with proximity, and they will be able to feel the emotions of their partner's intermingling with their own.

the cooking contest

[ As promised, Akane has set up her side of the contest! And she learned from someone who can actually cook, and she has more common sense! (Sorry, Minato.)

Her menu is less varied than Minato's because she chose to focus on a few specific recipes, and actually followed the recipes, thanks. She is offering:

- Cobb salad, which is hard to fuck up, so it's perfect! :)
- French onion soup! She gave up on the bread bowls, but there is bread on the side for it. It doesn't look very nice, but the taste is good, if not a little bit strong. But that's what the bread is for! Don't complain!!!
-Chocolate cappaccino cheesecake! You wanted a fancy dessert, right? It definitely doesn't look nice, and the texture of it is just a little off, like she probably didn't do the mixing quite right, or maybe didn't let it set quite long enough? So the flavors aren't mixing exactly the way they should, but it's still very yummy, assuming you like the flavors of coffee and chocolate.

Validate her. She's here beaming and looking proud of herself. And, for the record, wearing cat ears. ]

[He can't eat the salad because he gets absolutely nothing out of that. French onion soup doesn't have enough blood or sugar to his liking.

So he tries the cheesecake. As a person who doesn't cook, but buys all of his healing items from a store, he can tell something is off. But at the same time, it's good! And edible. And sugar filled.]

[ She's so happy he likes it!!! But also disappointed that he won't eat the other stuff... Do vampires only eat?? blood?? she doesn't understand his dietary restrictions and Does Not Respect Them! ]

How come you're not trying the other stuff?

I shouldn't eat vegetables. I don't processes them well. They've never contained any blood at all. There's not enough sugar in the soup for me.

I'm sure you did an excellent job on all of it, lass.

[It looks considerably more edible than Minato's half.]

[ The soup doesn't have any meat! Not out of consideration, but just by chance. Lucky you! ]

[oh, good. he's trying that too, then. let's see how it compares to minato's miscellaneous soup...]

[ kara's actually going to try a bit of everything, just to see how akane did on her own. finding that it isn't actually that bad is a pleasant surprise, but of course he can't say so right off the bat. so after trying the cheesecake, he tells her: ]

The texture is off.

[ but uh. that's it. that's his only criticism for her right now. good job? ]

[ At least her whining isn't, like, offended whining. ]

I knowwwww. I don't get what I did wrong! Did I stir it too slow? Too fast?

Why is baking so much extra harder than regular cooking?

[ surprisingly enough, he's not even bothered by the whining. kara's just trying to recall the recipe since she probably made him help with that one, too... ]

Did you mix it enough? It should have had a smooth texture, before you put it in the oven.

[Minato takes one of everything, and also two breads. A little bit of everything, before he decides that the thing to do is to cut the bread in half and use the cheesecake as a spread]

It's delicious, Akane. I love coffee.

[ she is. desperately trying not to make a face at that, but. I mean, he is eating her food, and he did compliment it... ]

I know! That's why I chose it. Just for you!

["Just for him" makes him smile, ducking his head and taking another bite of his cheesecake sandwich. ]

Which ones did you learn from which people? I heard Ookurikara, Shirasu, and Namine helped you out?

At least her food doesn't smell as rank and look as weird as Minato's. And considering how weird the soup and cheesecake look, that's saying something about Minato's... attempts. ]

You all have too much spare time.

We were having a contest together.

[ She sounds sad. Cinnabar is bullying her... She's just trying to do something fun with her boyfriend and share the food with everyone... :( She's definitely the victim in this antagonistic relationship. :( ]

We have the same amount of time as you. What are you doing that's so much more productive than this...?

but first, since the cobb salad actually looks pretty good, he's grabbing himself some. ]

Yeah! You saw what Minato-kun brought to the festival, right? So that's what he could do.

As for me, I just usually eat out at restaurants or eat instant stuff.

Not bad. I've heard cheesecake is hard to make, but it's still mostly in one piece. [Mostly.] Why're you two even doing this anyway?

It was probably the hardest one to make...

We did it because Minato-kun needs to learn to cook. [ And still. Needs to learn to cook. Her plan was foiled... ]
