INTRO LOG
Week Zero
32 in Competition
32 in Competition
The transition from unconsciousness to the waking world is practically seamless. Though you're certain this wasn't where you meant to end up, for a few brief moments it's hard to grasp the situation and take in your surroundings.
A soft twilight lights your way, casting a glow over the sprawling village that fans out around you. Just outside of the large meeting hall you'll find yourself awakening among several others who have found themselves in this place. There's a sense of peace that looms over the area, the only sounds being the cheerful chirp of a stray bird or two and the babbling brook that runs through the village itself.
Stand up, dust yourself off and set out. There are plenty of places to explore and should you venture far enough you'll even find several little houses throughout the village. It may take some time, but as you check out each house you'll soon come across something that belongs to you...along with something that doesn't. It seems that this new residence is yours to share. As for the village itself, the other buildings appear open and well-stocked, providing you with a variety of amenities to utilize. The paths leading out of the village, however, are guarded by four ornate wooden gates. No matter how hard you try, they will not let you past. It seems that the time isn't right yet.
Speaking of, the only way to truly track the passage of time is by charting the movements of the sun but that can prove to be quite difficult as well. As the sun dips below the horizon and the night sky fills with stars, the bell at the shrine rings out to signal the end of your first day. No one else has arrived. It's only you and these strangers for now.
It seems as though you'll have plenty of time to get acquainted with your fellow companions. Make yourself comfortable; when the time is right, answers will appear.

Welcome to the soft intro of Subdivided! This is your intro mingle and the current conditions will last through the weekend until Monday, June 3rd at which point the weekly log will go up. Your characters will not know anything about the partner system, how powers work or any plot-relevant information until Monday. However, characters are free to discover their power through trial and error and will have access to their item from home immediately.
Please note that an additional top-level to introduce NPCs and Game Mechanics will go up on Sunday, 4 PM EST.

[So for anyone who chooses to approach the quaint little houses, they'll see a rather tall girl with her hair styled as bananas exiting one of them, holding a bunch of, well.
Bananas.
Of which she inspects every couple of moments before nodding in satisfaction. Perfectly ripe, not too spotted, good for both eating or cooking. If anyone approaches her, she'll lift her head with a chirpy smile and a gesture to her prize]
Are you hungry? Would you like one of my bananas before I cook them?
II. Kitchen
[It was only a matter of time before Nana found the kitchen.
She's thoroughly explored every area this village has to offer so far, but nothing feels like home except the place where she can roll up her sleeves and start on a meal. People like bananas, right? And there's plenty of other ingredients for her to use up.]
Mmm... I thinking... banana bread!
[Warm, tasty, good for the soul. She claps her hands in excitement before busying herself, fetching the rest of the ingredients]
III. Profiles
[The only area Nana doesn't linger in.
Because once she's finished staring at one scroll in particular, she has already twisted into a march to leave the area, expression a little pale.
Her apologies when she bumps into you, friend]
A-ah! I'm so sorry, I-- [Smiling in apology, lifting up her hands] I forgot to watch where I was going.
Wildcard
[ooc: hit me up with anything, I will follow your lead!]
I!
[despite his fears, her chipper way of greeting him is sort of enticing. like, if she were a bird, he would just assume she was a nice and pleasant somebirdie.]
Um... uh... [his voice is still a bit raspy from lack of use]
Cooked... bananas?
no subject
Mmhmm! I can fry them up, put them in muffins, or pudding. Bananas are very versatile, after all.
Though I don't know if they're good for birds. [Yeah, her skills are many but the diet of animals? Not her forte]
But if you're willing to try...

[ Are people like him going to starve if Nana dies week 1 ]
no subject
Also not expecting company, Nana glances over her shoulder with a quiet look of surprise before she shakes her head, expression melting into a polite smile]
I hadn't checked yet, but I can look for you.
[She's going to be busy in here for a while anyway. Might as well be useful while she's here!]

Banana bread?
[ There's a pause, as Miki wipes her finger across one of the counters, like she's examining it for any dust or dirt. ]
I... haven't had that in a long time. [ ... ] Did you need any help?
no subject
Mmhmm! Daiba Nana's special banana bread is on the way!
[Which means it's about done, though she does spare a look of gratitude for the offer to help. What a nice girl.]
It'll be finished in a few minutes, if you'd like to wait and have a piece. I made it for everyone here.

The first thing you do in a strange place is cook?
no subject
Oh no, this wasn't the first thing I did. I tried to see if there was any way to leave, but since it looks like we're all stuck here...
[Glancing down at her creation with fondness, smile turning softer]
We can't brainstorm on ways to escape if we're all hungry. So... I made banana bread for everyone.
[Glancing up again with a big smile]
When it's finished, would you like a piece?

Are bananas your favorite or somethin'?
no subject
Mm... I like frogs a little more, to be honest.
[That ain't a fruit but okay, honey. Anyway, she gestures at the bunch in her grip]
I found these in one of the houses and figured they were mine, but I can't eat all of them by myself.

Yes, into many different recipes. Have you ever had bananas before?

FOOD
Suddenly, perhaps slightly intimidatingly, there is a woman with some very extreme hair behind you, puzzling over those very words.]
Banana bread?
I can't say I'm not interested, but... what is a banana?
no subject
A... banana?
[But more importantly is the question. She'd understand if the bird, the horse, or the strange dog creature did not know what a banana is, but this girl looks like a girl, so...
Maybe she's just sheltered?]
It's a type of fruit. Long and yellow. You peel back the skin to get to the fruit inside.
[Mimicking the gesture of peeling a banana for the other girl to see, and -- actually!]
Here, I'll show you. I have one banana left.

So they wait. They're very good at waiting. Once night has fallen and Cinnabar thinks she's asleep, they push open the door, creeping in to try and find the clipboard that they know is in here. They're being as quiet as possible, but... they're heavy. ]

Her... roommate, she assumes? That would be the most obvious answer. The group at large had already figured out that they're meant to share living quarters. And if that's the case:]
... Hello.

It's a type of bread made with bananas, sir!
[which, y'know, kinda what's on the tin. But she smiles over her shoulder, busily waiting for the bread to rise in the oven]
It's sweet and soft... and sometimes I make it with nuts, too.
