week zero: mingle
Week Zero

On Monday morning, the sun rises on the sleepy village, and when the first ray of light touches the gates at each corner of the village, the previously tightly sealed doors open.
The barriers around the village fall, and leave it entirely open. Each cardinal direction will have a path exiting the village, taking the curious explorers who follow it on an adventure to new territories to be explored. They’ll find that each location that they arrive in appears to be associated with one of the elements. As the Signs had explained the day before, each of the participants in the game possesses an elemental assignment, whether they are aware of it or not.
When they approach the elemental areas, they’ll find themselves more in tune with their new powerset, as if the location invites them to take them out for a spin. The new areas appear to be perfect for training and learning how to use the new skills, or maybe if you’re curious you can discover which of those listed powers you’ve been granted.
Just try not to hurt yourself while you’re out there.
In addition, it seems now that more pieces of the core are being revealed, the river that runs through the village will begin to be dotted with small lanterns floating on the water. Some of them seem to be holding small notes. Try as you might to grab one, they’ll always just barely float out of reach.
Perhaps try sending one yourself and see what results you might get?
Occasionally in the village, you might hear the sound of drums and flutes - is that festival music? - though no matter how you search, you can’t find the source… yet.

Welcome to your tutorial week mingle log! Please see all the links within the log to check out the new updates. In addition, your status page has been updated. In case you missed it, please report all item theft to this top-level where all comments are screened. Private conversations are also open and should be reported under the Week 0 top-level.
A mini-event will also be posted on Wednesday, June 5th, so please keep an eye out for that!

[On one hand, his in game stats say he's very weak to fire. On the other, he's an idiot and this is as close as he's ever going to get to getting near Hades. There's a volcano here and instead of actually doing anything he's sitting near the volcano entrance with a bunch of sardines and eating them whole and raw.
He's not really doing anything else. Not practicing, not going towards the lava. Just sitting here and enjoying a snack.
If somebody comes in-]
Would you like a sardine to keep your strength up?
[It's raw, don't do this to yourself.]
II. Air
[He's considerably more at ease now that the threat of potential burning isn't looming over him here. Never mind the fact that he's so high up that the wind is a danger itself.
Now it's a little easier to tell Val's cape seems to be patterned after wings, with the wind blowing it back. The cape also looks quite a bit shorter now.]
It's quite the view.
[Looking down at the village from here, he wonders if this is how it is for the angels in Celestia. Though they're much higher up, maybe they look down on humanity in some similar way.]
i
Sure. Thanks.
[ He holds his hand out for a sardine. ]

Mind the bone.
[And then he hands one over.]

Did you catch it yourself? I was having some trouble back at the pond.
no subject
I found these in the kitchen. The taste like they were freshly caught

this seems like a sketchy idea
Nana also doesn't say no, either, just watching the sardine with a curious expression on her face]
Well, with a volcano nearby... I bet we could cook it!
[Both of you, no]
no subject
With the lava? I've never seen anyone utilize it like that before.
no subject
[Or simply burn away into a crisp, this is such a terrible idea.]
no subject
[A pause.]
I don't need to cook it to eat it. But if that's what you need, there's plenty to be gained from experimenting.

No, it's probably best if you keep it to yourself. Is a volcano what you're used to?
[ Since he's just... sitting here and hanging out. ]
no subject
This is the closest to home he's going to get.]
I live on a rock that's suspended over magma. I'm usually not close to the surface like this.

Sure, he'll tilt his head and wonder why is this guy offering free fish. Taking it and then just going to carefully sniff it. Did you do something??? ]

no subject
It's weird.
But sure, he'll take a test bite of the raw fish to make sure.

no subject
[But he looks pretty pleased that she's taken one.
And not startled at all that she's a talking hyena.]
no subject
Why sardines, though. There have to be bigger and better fishes.
[Her immediate thought is that Valvatorez simply is uncapable of catching something better somewhere else, so instead he had to stick to old sardines caught who knows where. Poor guy]
