week five: mingle
Week Five
22 in Competition
22 in Competition
As the sun rises on Monday morning, all participants will find themselves awakening with a sense of purpose. Regardless of where they slept the night before, they’ll find themselves compelled to return to the main meeting hall first thing in the morning.
Approaching the hall, however, they will find a large, swirling mass grey in color looming near the sakura tree. This swirl cannot be approached just yet, but seems to be locked and waiting for something more.
As the last member of the village enters the hall, they will find Lune and Sol at the head of the room. Though they’re together, it’s Lune who speaks up first this time.
"Good morning, good morning. You've done well to purge the corruption in the previous gateway - allow us to assist with the finishing touches. For the time being, it would appear as though we've been able to locate another. I would not grow complacent, but I also wonder if you all might enjoy the surprise."
When Lune finishes, Sol chimes in from their place at Lune's side.
"Maybe we can have another week like the last. It'd be nice, wouldn't it? Good luck out there."
The moment participants leave the hall, they will find that the gateway has changed from grey to white, the opening widening enough for multiple people to step through. The Signs will soon take their leave, and all will remain peaceful once more.
In addition, as the week goes on, partners will begin to see odd mirages and hear voices calling for them. Even though they might not realize it, these phantoms that will be haunting them will be their partner's most important person, calling for them to come home. Partners will only be able to see each other's illusions if they make physical contact.

Welcome to your week five mingle! As a reminder, murder proposals are open. We will also be having another CYOA this week! Sign ups are here and will close on Tuesday at 8 AM PST.
In addition, ensure that all of your week four private conversations were reported on the page. If you'll be taking anything from locations, please report that as well.

[ Minato smells like soap. This is a very important distinction I need to make, along with the fact that his wounds are properly redressed, he's wearing a clean white dress shirt with black pants, cat ears on his head and bracelet on his left wrist, and he had slept in his bed for the past two whole nights.
Why?
Three guesses why, and the first two don't count.
No matter where he is or what he's doing, a faint, high-pitched whistle follows him everywhere he goes and doesn't shut up. Most of the time, there's a cat at his heels as well, also screaming. Minato never stops to pick it up or pet it. They're getting along fine.
But also, any time he spots Kara in the distance, Minato turns around and walks the other way. ]

[ IT'S A CIRCUS...... fuck, he misses Hisoka.
It's bright and noisy and Minato wishes earmuffs wouldn't be a literal pain, but he ducks around the crowd looking around. He's not too interested in the costumes, lingers a bit longer than he should in front of the fireworks, and passes by the food without a second glance.
For the majority of the day (aka Monday bc heck if I ever know what happens on Tuesdays), Minato remains in the blimp, seated on the ground of the observation deck and leaning against the glass windows without a care whether it breaks on him or not, it's a nice view, and all the people are left down there. ]
wc.
[ Minato's gone back to wandering, so he can be found anywhere!! Not really doing anything important, just strolling around with his screaming cat. ]
i
Four, on the hand, looks a little worse than usual, like she's received even less sleep. She does a double take when she passes Minato. As if she doesn't believe what she just saw. ]
Am I dreaming?
[ His appearance is more alarming than the cat screaming behind him. And whatever that whistle is. ]
no subject
He stares at her for a moment, like he isn't sure if she is dreaming or not— people sleepwalk, after all- but in the end, decides on a vague ]
No, probably not. Have you been getting enough sleep?
[ Says Mr. 14-Hours-of-Sleep-a-Night. The cat goes from screaming at Minato, to screaming at Four. ]
no subject
[ But that's not important? What's important is— ]
Why is your cat being so vocal?
no subject
[ He crouches down so the cat can start gnawing on his hand— at least this shuts it up, for a bit. ]
Some cats are more vocal than others. Like how some people are, and others aren't. Do you want to pet him? His name is Hisoka.

...enjoying the view?
no subject
Yeah. It's like looking after people, without having to be there. The cannon shoots further than I thought it would.

no subject
Do you think the cannon can shoot somebody up this high, if it's pointed directly at the sky?

Yeah, everything's fine. Did you have a good time last week?

... Minato. [ upgrade from "hey you." ] What's that noise? It's annoying.
no subject
But yeah, it is a relief, and what's coming next is the opposite of a relief because Minato takes a bundle of socks out from his bag and after removing three layers of socks, shows Cinnabar a spinning glass top with its piercing whistle that Minato has to raise his voice to be heard over: ]
I DON'T KNOW WHAT IT'S CALLED.

Sorry... It's noisy, but I'm trying to figure out what it does. And how to make it stop, without breaking it.

[ there's a smallish cat on julius' own shoulder. it's grim eyes' fault. don't worry about it. its ears are flattened against its skull. ]
no subject
Hisoka's fine. What's your cat's name?
no subject
[ it's not even calico or particularly colorful. why saddle a poor, non-clown cat with that name. the noise is also treating lulu great, and by great i mean the poor cat's fur is just this side of beginning to bristle. ]
no subject
[ He pats Lulu on the head, which probably just causes more bristling. Hisoka's pretty much entirely poofed up already. ]
Hisoka's a nice name. The noise... I can't figure out how to turn it off. It actually sounds louder, now. Can you help?

Did you have stuff like this back home?
