week two: mingle
Week Two
26 in Competition
26 in Competition
As the sun rises on Monday morning, all participants will find themselves awakening with a sense of purpose. Regardless of where they slept the night before, they’ll find themselves compelled to return to the main meeting hall first thing in the morning.
Approaching the hall, however, they will find a large, swirling mass grey in color looming near the sakura tree. This swirl cannot be approached just yet, but seems to be locked and waiting for something more.
As the last member of the village enters the hall, they will find Lune and Sol at the head of the room. Though they’re together, it’s Lune who speaks up first this time.
"Good morning, good morning. You've done well to purge the corruption in the previous gateway - allow us to assist with the finishing touches. For the time being, it would appear as though we've been able to locate another. The land might appear a bit familiar to some however... I only advise you watch your step."
When Lune finishes, Sol chimes in from their place at Lune's side.
"The corruption is still out there, and we're going to do all that we can to find a way to contain it. But until then... stick close to others this week. Do your best to protect yourselves and look after each other. Okay?"
The moment participants leave the hall, they will find that the gateway has changed from grey to white, the opening widening enough for multiple people to step through. The Signs will soon take their leave, and all will remain peaceful once more.
The only oddity is that throughout the week, in a noise that extends past the portal but seems to resound even through the village, there will be the occasional, resounding call of a war horn.
In addition, as the week goes on, partners will find ever-growing feelings of anxiety and nervousness dwelling within them the longer they are separated from one another. They will feel compelled to be very close to their partners at all times, and will be on edge if separated for more than an hour by the end of the week. Welcome to surprise codependence at its finest.

Welcome to your week two mingle! As a reminder, murder proposals are open. We will also be hosting a mini-event on Tuesday, so please be on the lookout for that.
In addition, ensure that all of your week one private conversations were reported on the page, and your week two private conversations are reported on that page. If you'll be taking anything from locations, please report that as well.

[ Minato has taken exactly one step into the gateway before the ground collapses beneath him and he's sent plummeting ten feet down, landing hard on his backside and nearly avoiding getting impaled by his own nailbat that he's definitely carrying around because why wouldn't he carry it around.
jfc
Here he is, cupping muddy hands around his mouth, a very listless, unhurried ] Help...
ii. water
[ Does Minato ever make it further than that one step out into the gateway?? Who knows. He'll be tagging into other people's gateway toplevels, but generally, he's got other things on his mind for the week.
His chosen haunt is the ocean for much of the week, just sort of standing a little further out on the shoreline, occasionally crouching down to stick his hands into the water, wait a few seconds, and then stand up again, somewhat disappointed.
He's doing... something... maybe. ]
iii. village
[ Hopefully y'all don't spend the entire week in the gateway either, or else how is Minato supposed to find you... He wanders around the village near evening, when he supposes people will be turning in to go back home for the night, notebook out and resting in his arms as he tries to flag people down so they don't run away from him on sight. ]
I need to know... your favorite food.
[ Also, how strong is your stomach. ]

Are you trying to catch something?

That's sort of the end goal. Do you like fish?

Why?

Cooking competition. I want to win, so I have to appeal to the judges.

Why do you need to know?
[does it count as having a strong stomach if you technically don't have one tho]
no subject
Cooking competition. I wanted to make something that would appeal to the most people, so they'd be able to enjoy it too.

Are you hurt?
no subject
[ It's an answer to a different question, but it doesn't really hurt anymore. He's on his feet, nailbat propped up against the side of the pit, nails just a little bit bloodier but Minato's sleeves are rolled down and it's hard to tell from down there. ]
Do you have a rope, or... a ladder... or something?
[ A ladder would be wonderful, actually. Much easier to climb than a rope. ]

More favorites is better than just one, honestly. What sorts of things do you like?

anyway, congrats minato, you've successfully flagged down a julius returning from the armory, even if he does mildly seem confused as to why. maybe. it's a little hard to tell with the resting :/ face. minato's explanation doesn't alleviate this much. ]
... The village's offerings for the most part are already of higher quality than what was available where I'm from, so I'm not picky.
no subject
...You've been living off worse than apples and flowers?
[ That's so sad... Minato is going to cook up extra servings of whatever monstrosity Shirasu ends up teaching him so Julius can have plenty of leftovers to take home. ]
